The Dark: 24 Hours Underground
Race Update
Hi |*CONTACT_NAME*|,
Just like that, the race is only three weeks away. I hope you're excited - I know we are! It's going to be a bizarre and fun event.
You are registered in the following category: |*SUB_EVENT*|.
Just to confirm the start times:
- 24h and 6h start at 9:00am on Saturday, November 2
- 12h starts at 9:00pm on Saturday, November 2
Of course, the time change happens this weekend, so 24 and 12-hour runners will see Daylight Saving Time end, meaning that you actually finish at 8:00am once the clocks go back.
As with any loop race of this nature, you can run as much or as little as you like. As long as you do one loop, you are not DNF.
In case you missed it, check out the details page and rules.

Note that we have decided to reverse direction every three hours, instead of every six hours. The rules will be updated to reflect that ASAP.

Aid Station Supplies
We will have a lot of variety at the aid station. Hot food will be available all the time; keep in mind that running a stove 24/7 means going through a lot of propane, so if there is a lull we'll stop boiling the water and prepare items on demand. If that's the case, just place an order and check back on one of your next laps. In the afternoon and evening, the hot food choices will include meatballs in sauce, rice, instant mashed potatoes, burgers, and similar vegetarian items. In the morning hours, we'll switch to foods like hashbrowns.
Soup and snack foods, like chips, chocolate, candy, and the like will be available the whole time.
We aren't planning on doing any fresh fruit this year, unless it is unusually warm. It's hard to prep food in cooler weather. We will also have dried fruit.
We will also have heaters, blankets, cots, and camp pads. This isn't going to be quite enough, in my humble opinion, to sleep for a few hours, so consider bringing a big sleeping bag if you're going to nap for a while.
Weather
The weather in the mine is pretty consistent: 100% humidity and around 2C to -1C. Outside, right now the weather is looking like daytime highs of +5C to -12C overnight... but that can change quickly. Fingers crossed for no wind!
We're looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
Kindest regards,
Brian Gallant
