Any registration submitted after September 25th at noon will not be guaranteed a t-shirt for the event.
Jonesboro Police DARE will be hosting the DARE 2 Tread event for the 7th year! We had a great turnout in 2023 and are excited about 2024!
On October 12th, we want you to come out and enjoy our trails at Craighead Forest. We will start at access 5 beside the splash pad. The parking is limited at the splash pad but there is additional parking by the pump track. This year we will have a 5k trail run (with approx. 1 mile of chat by the lake), 10k trail run (with approx. 1.2 miles of chat around the lake), and a 20k trail run (this will be 2 loops of the 10k). We will start the 20k at 8am, the 10k will start at 8:30am, and the 5k will start at 9am. We plan on doing the 5k/10k awards around 10:30. We will have a 4-hour time limit on the 20k with awards following right after. Timing will be done by Stearns timing again this year.
Runners and walkers are welcome to bring their mountain bikes and register for the mountain bike poker ride after the run!
Following the run, we will have our fun mountain bike poker ride that will also begin at access 5 at 1pm with a 2-hour timeframe. We have a couple local riders that will take you on whatever you want to ride. We want you to have a great time on the new trails! We moved it back to Saturday in hopes that some of the runners would be able to participate it the ride. If you have never done a mountain bike poker ride, be prepared to have fun and meet some new people. You will draw a poker card before you start. There will be three more stops where you draw cards. You will draw your final card and turn it in at the finish. You may purchase more cards before the event starts for $5 each or 5 hands for $20! If you have multiple hands, you will hand one to the person at the stop. You will draw for that hand. You will then hand them your next hand and draw for it. You do not get to pick which card goes with what hand, we have to keep it fair for those with only one hand. When everyone finishes, the person with the highest hand gets to pick from the prizes first. The person with the lowest hand picks next and the 2nd and 3rd place hand will follow suit. Tickets will be drawn for the remainder of the giveaways. Remember, the mountain bike ride is for fun! It is not a race.
All of the money raised goes to support our local DARE program. We purchase shirts, books, and other supplies for all of our 5th grade students.
