Welcome to our third edition of the Doukhobor Waterline Trail Loop.
About the trail:
Nearly half of this race takes place on the path laid out by the doukhobor people to reach McPhee creek in order to get water to their community. Vestiges of the old wooden waterline can still be seen throughout the course. This trail has since been maintained by the Castlegar Parks And Trails Society. The other half takes place on a section of the trans Canada trail called Skattebo Reach Trail also developed and maintained by the CPTS.
About the race:
This year, we will run in the opposite direction as last year. This means that you will run down Skattebo reach trail until it forks, following the ever climbing Doukhobor Waterline Trail until you reach McPhee waterfall.
You will then switchback your way down the river all the way to lake level and wind your way back up skattebo until you’ve found your way back to the finish line.
This is a very technical trail and contain many risks. Make sure you train Accordingly and familiarize yourself with the terrain prior to participating in this event. Orientation runs will be organized closer to the event date.
Please note: an active yearly membership to the Castlegar Parks and Trails Society is mandatory to participate in our events. It is NOT included in our ticket price. Please visit friendsoftrails.org for more information about memberships.
