The second annual Run with Pius 5K is a run/walk taking place on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in support of St. Pius V School in Pilsen! In partnership with Fleet Feet Chicago, the event will open at 7:30 am with the race/run/walk starting at 8:30 am at St. Pius V School in Chicago, IL at 1919 S. Ashland Avenue.
The run will take place between St. Pius V School and Dvorak Park in Pilsen. A 2.5-kilometer option will be available for those who prefer that distance. We welcome runners and walkers of all levels!
This event will be chip-timed with a certified distance of 5.0 kilometers (or 2.5k for those who choose). We will have t-shirts for all registered participants and a festive atmosphere before and after the race with music, vendors, and more!
Course
The Run with Pius 5K and 2.5K courses offer an urban route through Chicago's historic Pilsen neighborhood. Both races start and end at St. Pius V School, located at 1919 S. Ashland Ave.
Participants will make their way to and from Dvorak Park, with those in the 5K completing the loop twice and 2.5K participants once. The route includes Cullerton Street, Blue Island Avenue, 21st Street, and May Avenue, turning around at May and Cermak Road, adjacent to Dvorak Park.
Transportation and Parking
Limited street parking is available around the school but participants are encouraged to take public transportation - the Pink Line, BNSF-Metra, and several bus lines (9, 18, 21, and 60) are all within a few blocks of the venue.
