Chinese community commitment to support Windsor Regional Hospital

In 2016, Essex County Chinese Canadian Association (ECCCA) hosted an information session about the proposed Windsor-Essex Hospitals System. Windsor Regional Hospital CEO, David Musyj, and Dave Cooke, Co-Chair of the Steering Committee overseeing the project, spoke about the plans for the proposed new hospital and answered questions from ECCCA members. The members overwhelmingly supported the new hospital and wrote letters to the Ontario Minister of Health and to the Windsor Star, and signed a petition to show their support.

The following year, the ECCCA further showed community support through annual fundraising for the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation. This is the brief chronology:

2017 – ECCCA’s first Walkathon to raise money for medical equipment at the Windsor Regional Hospital - raised $5,340.00

2018 – ECCCA’s second Walkathon - raised $4,575.00

2019 – ECCCA Mid-Autumn/Moon Festival - raised a total of $10,000 for WRHF and The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County ($5,000 for each charity)

2022 – ECCCA’s Asian Heritage Month Celebration – donated $10,000 of banquet proceeds to the WRHF

2023 – ECCCA, the Chinese Association of Greater Windsor (CAGW) and the broader Chinese Community - raised $22,434.08 from six separate events

Now, for 2024, we are hoping to achieve or exceed our goal of $8,000 through runforwindsor.ca and here's how you can help:

1) Register as a runner - $25 per person, $75 Family of 4 - Every participant will get a T-shirt, water bottle and a Run for Windsor pin 

2) Donation through this page - support our team or an individual runner
