The Hekkla at Rosseau Lake College is a tradition that dates back to the school's establishment in 1967. It is a significant event that symbolizes personal challenge and celebrates the spirit of the school community. The Hekkla involves an 18km run or bike challenge, bringing together students, staff, and supporters to push themselves physically and mentally while fostering unity and camaraderie within the school community. This annual event reflects the school's ethos of using the natural environment to enhance education and instill values of citizenship and stewardship among its students.
There are two ways you can participate:
Join us in person on April 26 to run with students, faculty, parents, friends, and alumni. Run or cycle the traditional Hekkla route beginning at the Cardwell Community Centre in Hekkla, Ontario, at 10:30 am.
Join or mount a Hekklette. These sister events replicate the spirit, challenge, and camaraderie of the Hekkla, across Canada and around the world.
Register as an individual or as a team. Registration is $25 per participant.
Proceeds from the event, as well as donations around the event, are used to develop and maintain the Robert Carreau Memorial Trail on the RLC campus.
