The Crim’s Michigan Mile High School Challenge is back! Don’t miss one of the summer’s most exciting one-mile road races for serious competitors. This chip-timed race around the UM-Flint campus is open to all high school athletes who can compete as an individual and/or as part of a team.
The race starts on Kearsley Street in front of Wilson Park, and ends on the famous Saginaw Street bricks! The course is fast and flat - perfect for a PR. Athletes are eligible for individual and team awards (scored cross-country style).
Eligibility
All athletes eligible to compete in 2024 high school athletic seasons are eligible to compete in the 2024 Michigan Mile High School Challenge.
In order to be scored as a team, schools must have a minimum of five athletes.
An MHSAA high school student athlete can compete in up to two non-school races during the HS Cross Country season. The Crim HS Team Challenge could be one of those two non-school races that an individual student-athlete decides to compete in. If a student-athlete has not had a HS Cross Country meet before the Crim, then they may participate without eligibility concerns, as their HS competition season hasn’t started yet.
Awards
Team Challenge Traveling Trophies: To compete for the male or female team trophy, a high school must have a minimum of 5 male or female participants. The teams receiving the lowest overall score will receive the Traveling Challenge Cup and will hold it at their school until next year’s High School Challenge!
Individual Challenge: The first place male and female finishers of the Michigan Mile High School Challenge will receive a special plaque in honor of their victory.
Participant Perks: All participants in the Michigan Mile High School Challenge will receive a commemorative Michigan Mile “Block M” medal and a Michigan Mile tech shirt. All participants also receive free pizza and pop on the Friday Festival Lot!
Cost:
- All registered Challenge athletes will receive a $5 discount off the standard $25 fee.
