Derek and Charlie's First 5K for The Local
Hi, I'm Derek, and this year my daughter Charlie and I are lacing up for our very first 5K race to support an organization that's close to our hearts—The Local Community Food Centre. This place is more than just a charity to us—it's where I proudly worked for 9 years, and where my partner, Jenn (Charlie’s mom), currently leads the community access market. Together, we are running to help The Local achieve its mission to eliminate food insecurity, not just in our community but beyond.
The Local is dedicated to ensuring everyone has access to healthy, nutritious food, regardless of their circumstances. They provide programs, meals, and markets that foster connection and empower individuals to break the cycle of poverty. We believe in their vision of a future where no one has to go hungry.
