- What is the date and location of the 2024 NMSU Gratitude Walk/Run?
The event will take place on Saturday, September 14, at the Horseshoe located on NMSU’s Las Cruces campus. - What time does the event start?
The 5K event will start at 9:15 a.m. and the 1-mile fun run will start at 9:30 a.m. - Where can I find course maps for the 1-Mile Fun Run and 5K Race?
Course maps can be accessed here. - What is the purpose of this event?
Our goal is to encourage engagement among the NMSU and Las Cruces communities. A walk/run is a unique, active, and fun way to bring everyone together to enjoy our beautiful campus. Proceeds generated from the event are not profited, but used to cover expenses associated with event setup. - How can I register for the event?
Click here to register. - Can I register on the day of the event?
Yes, however, there will be a $5 increase in fees if you choose to register day of. In order to save time and avoid unnecessary delays, online registration before the day of the event is highly encouraged. - How can I confirm my registration?

Registration for the 5K is $20 per person plus taxes and fees, and for the 1-Mile Fun Run, $10 per person plus taxes and fees. Registration is free for children ages 0-12 for both race events. If registering on the day of the event, there will be a $5 increase in fees for both race events. - Why am I being charged a processing fee at checkout?
Race Roster charges a processing fee on all transactions. This is standard practice for event registration platform companies. Processing fees cover customer support, platform development costs, and ensures an organized and seamless registration process for our participants.
- Can I pay with cash or check?
We will not be accepting cash or check payments for this year’s event. Please pay with card only. - Are there any discounts available?
Yes, there are team discounts for the 5K event. Teams of four or more members will receive a $5 per team member registration discount. - Do I get anything for free when I register?
The first 200 participants are eligible to receive a free t-shirt when they pick up their race bibs. - Can I opt out of receiving a free t-shirt?
Yes, please make sure to indicate that you would like to opt out of receiving a free t-shirt on your registration form. - How can I create or join a 5K team?
To create a 5K team, follow the instructions outlined on the Create/Join a 5K team page. You'll need a team name and code. Teams must have four or more members. Teams will receive a $5 discount per member. The deadline to create/join a team is Friday, September 13 at 11:59 p.m.
- Will the race events be timed?
Yes, both the 1-mile fun run and 5K events will be timed. - Where can I access my timed result and photos?
Your results will be uploaded to the View results page shortly after you cross the finish line. Photos will be made available in the weeks following the event. - Who do I contact if I have questions or concerns about my timed result?
Our race timer, Scott Fister can help you with questions regarding your results. You can reach him at 575-496-6792. - What is a race bib and why do I need one for this event?
Race bibs allow our race timer to properly keep and record your race time. Information on proper bib placement is available on the Event details page. - When and where do I pick up my race bib?
All participants are encouraged to pick up their race bibs before the day of the event. Race bib pickup will take place on Friday, September 13, at the NMSU Marketing and Communications office located on NMSU’s Las Cruces campus inside Garcia Center, room 100. Click here for directions. - What if I can’t pick up my race bib on Friday?
If you are unable to pick up your race bib the Friday before the event, you may do so from 8-9 a.m. on the morning of the event at the check-in table located near the start/finish line. - What should I bring to the event?
Don’t forget your race bib, running shoes, hats/glasses, sunscreen and water bottle. You may also want to check the weather to make sure you bring the appropriate attire. The event will take place rain or shine!
We also encourage all participants to bring non-perishable items as donations for the Aggie Cupboard which supports NMSU community members facing adversity and food insecurity. Click here for more information about NMSU's Aggie Cupboard. - Is there free parking?
Yes, NMSU offers free parking on evenings and weekends. Parking permits are enforced Monday-Friday. Free parking lots and metered parking are available to those who do not have a parking permit and are picking up their race bibs the day before the event. Suggested parking areas for both days are provided here. - Will there be awards and recognition?
Yes, all 1-mile fun run and 5K finishers will receive a participation medal. Additionally, medals will be awarded to the first, second, and third place male and female finishers of the 5K. - Can I opt out of receiving a medal?
Yes, please make sure to indicate that you would like to opt out of receiving a medal on your registration form. - How can I sign up as volunteer for the event?
To sign up as a volunteer, click here. Volunteer tasks include handing out water/snacks, handing out swag items, and monitoring the course. You will have the opportunity to select your preferred volunteer task, however spots are limited. - Is there a deadline to sign up as a volunteer?
Yes, the deadline to sign up as a volunteer is Wednesday, September 4 at 5 p.m. We appreciate all forms of support, but please note that there are limited volunteer tasks available. Volunteer opportunities are not guaranteed for those who do not fill out a volunteer form prior to the aforementioned deadline. - Where can I view the results and photos from the 2023 event?

Yes, however, you will be asked to pay the difference if changing your race event from the 1-mile fun run to the 5K. You will receive a partial refund if you change your race event from the 5K to the 1-mile fun run. To change your race event, visit the Transfer page here. The deadline to do so is Friday, September 13 at 11:59 p.m. You will not be able to change your race event after this date. - Can I get a refund if I can’t make it to the event?
No, we do not offer refunds for registration fees. However, we do allow for race fees to be transferred to a new registrant. If you are unable to attend the event and would like to transfer your race entry fee to someone you know, visit the Transfer page here. - Is there a deadline to transfer registration fees to a new participant?
Yes. The deadline to transfer race fees to a new participant is Friday, September 13 at 11:59 p.m. You will not be able to transfer your registration fees after this date. - Will there be water stations along the race routes?
Yes, there will be two water stations along the 5K route, located near the one- and two-mile markers. Water and other refreshments will also be available near the start/finish line. - Will there be food at the event?
Yes, we’ll have a range of food options available. Complimentary water, granola bars and fruit will be provided. If you choose to purchase other food items, food trucks will be on-site. - Will there be restrooms available?
Yes, there will be restrooms available near the start/finish location and inside Aggie Memorial Stadium near the one-mile marker. - Will there be signs or markers along the route?
Yes, in addition to directional signs, flagging tape and mile markers along both routes, we’ll have a bike lead for both events. Our volunteers can also help guide you if you stray from the path, but be sure to review the race route prior to the event. - What if I get lost along the route?
We will have a bike lead for both race events as well as several volunteers available along the race routes to help guide you and ensure that you don’t get lost. - What safety measures will be implemented?
In addition to barricading necessary roadways, ensuring traffic cones separate bike and driving lanes, deploying crossing guards at busy intersections, and strategically positioning course marshals along the 1-mile fun run and 5K routes, we'll also have first aid kits available at the start/finish line and both water stations. Additionally, the NMSU Fire Department has been notified about the event and will be available in case of emergencies.
- Will additional activities be available at the event?
