My Story…
The simple reason why I’ve decided to participate in the inaugural EyeRide is because I want to support and give back to two organizations that enhance the quality of life for me and others living with sight loss in the Greater Toronto Area. In 2013, I sold my Trek bike as no longer felt safe to cycle due to my vision decline. Losing the simple pleasure of riding a bike was tough. A few years later, I was introduced to TRAILBLAZERS and could ride one of their tandem bikes with a sighted captain. Without TRAILBLAZERS fleet of tandem bikes and sighted volunteer captains, riding a bike wouldn’t be easily possible. I’m challenging myself to cycle 125 km from Toronto to Collingwood on a tandem bike. Your donation will help TRAILBLAZERS replace tandems that are 20 years old, and help BALANCE continue to provide programs and services for blind adults (like counselling and adaptive technology training). Thank you for your consideration to support my ride.
Donate to help Laura raise money for EyeRide 2024’s fundraising campaign.
