Help Alberto raise money

My name is Alberto Quiroz and this is why I am participating in the EyeRide Cycling Fundraising Event.

According to estimates from the 2022 National Health Interview Survey, 50.18 million American Adults age 18 and older reported experiencing some degree of vision loss. Of these, 3.89 million adults have a lot of trouble seeing, even when wearing glasses, and 340,000 cannot see at all.

Today, an estimated 1.5 Million Canadians identify themselves as having a sight loss. An estimated 5.59 million more have an eye disease that could cause sight loss.

We all have someone in our family or friends who suffers a form of accelerated vision loss, In my case, my mother is now legally blind because of accelerated Macular degeneration.  This motivates me to support two great organizations, both to empower people affected by vision loss to maintain their sports activity, their mobility and continue being contributing members of our society.

I believe the funds raised by my riding will help them live productive and independent lives. Losing one’s independence as a result of accelerated vision loss can be immobilizing. Think of an avid reader, whose vision loss makes him/her a recluse. If my mother lived in Canada, she could have the help of two underfunded organizations that "punch above their weight", Balance for Blind Adults & Trailblazers Tandem Cycling Club.
