My Story…
Growing up low income in SRO housing with a single mom and 2 older sisters wasn’t easy. Most days, it was embarrassing. It was hard to focus in school and difficult to find people who understood where I came from. The Mayor’s Youth Employment and Education Program (MYEEP) here at JCYC has not only impacted thousands of people here in San Francisco, they’ve also impacted me since I was 15 years old. MYEEP JCYC helped me navigate through those challenges and gave me the resources to use the potential I knew I always had but didn’t get the opportunities to show. Just like other MYEEP alumni, I was just a kid who needed money in their pocket to help alleviate the financial stress my family went through in one of the most expensive cities in the world. This year I’m hoping to reach my goal of just $200 towards our annual Aloha Run fundraiser so it can help us fund other young peoples goals through scholarships. Please consider donating to my fundraising page.
