5K, 10K & Virtual Run
JCYC’s 14th Annual SF Aloha Run 5K, 10K and Keiki run will take place on Sunday, September 15th, 2024 at Crissy Field in San Francisco.
This year’s theme, the Aloha Run for Peace, is focused on bringing our communities together to stand against war, hate, and racism. This is a unique opportunity for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to be a part of an uplifting and healthy movement which supports groups that promote peace and compassion. The 2024 SF Aloha Run for Peace is a platform for all of us to educate and lead by example through individual acts of kindness and hope.
Proceeds from the run will be donated to United Playaz, Partnerships for Trauma Recovery (PTR), along with providing scholarships for low-income, first-generation college students through the JCYC Scholarship Programs.
About the beneficiaries:
United Playaz is a violence prevention and youth development organization that has been active in San Francisco for 25 years. Located in the SoMa district, the UP Clubhouse provides a safe and positive environment for youth to grow. The dedicated team members share similar backgrounds with the youth they serve, operating on the belief that communities thrive from within. Their goal is to offer a consistent 'home' that many of their kids lack in other areas of their lives.
Partnerships for Trauma Recovery (PTR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to healing the psychological and psychosocial impacts of trauma among international survivors of human rights abuses, forced displacement resulting from war, persecution related to identity and beliefs, gender-based violence and other forms of interpersonal violence. PTR offers culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and linguistically accessible care for asylum seekers and refugees worldwide.
JCYC Scholarship Programs is committed to supporting young people in pursuing higher education. We proudly host an annual award ceremony to spotlight scholarship recipients across nine different JCYC Programs. Our four main scholarships—the Julie Matsueda Believe Scholarship, Excellence Scholarship, Pathways Scholarship, and Thomatra Scott Scholarship—are dedicated to supporting low-income, first-generation college students in their academic endeavors.
