My Story…
Growing up as a first-generation eldest daughter (of three siblings), asking for help hasn’t always been the easiest. In fact, it used to be something I was extremely afraid of doing, learning from a very young age that I should try not to be a burden to others.
Fast forward to now, and I’d say my asking-for-help skills have somewhat improved. I am slowly learning to stand up and advocate for myself, which includes asking for help. In fact, in learning how to ask for help, I’ve learned a lot of things in my life I wouldn’t have learned otherwise; one of which includes one of the most life-changing decisions I have made in my life: switching career paths during my time in college. If it wasn’t for the support I sought after, I would not be where I am today.
In my 2 years at JCYC, I realized that I want to be that person who wants to give back and help young people. I want them to feel like they can ask for help without worry, no matter how big or small. So here I am now, asking for YOUR HELP in supporting our youth in fundraising for scholarships that will support and change their lives. No matter how big or small, your donation can MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Salamat, thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
