My Story…
Hello!
I'm fundraising for the Japanese Community Youth Council (JCYC), a nonprofit organization in San Francisco that provides support through college access, workforce, and early childhood development programs. JCYC has changed thousands of San Francisco youth's lives and continue to do so, and I am grateful to be one of those youth.
My first job was with JCYC as a 14 year old through the Mayor's Youth Employment & Education Program (MYEEP). I continued my time with JCYC at MYEEP as one of their youth leaders, a Counselor in Training (CIT), and I was also part of their college access program, Educational Talent Search (ETS). Fast forward after college, I came back and was a MYEEP Program Coordinator and now I am the ETS advisor at Phillip & Sala Burton Academic High School supporting students like how my college advisor did for me! I am grateful to have had my ETS advisor as my trusted adult at school and continue to have her as a mentor today! I would not be where I am today without my experiences at ETS and MYEEP as a high schooler.
Being a college advisor at Burton is something that brings me so much meaning and joy. The students and the work are why I wake up everyday looking forward to go to work. It's so heartwarming to see students learn so much about themselves and strive for their greatest potential. I give them my all, and I wish I can give them the world.
Please donate to fund our scholarships for first generation low-income youth. Anything helps!
