Even though our 26th annual Walk/Run/Wheel is over...
YOU CAN STILL MAKE ONLINE DONATIONS HERE!
THANK YOU FOR
KICKING CANCER'S BUTT
WITH US!
On October 20, hordes of SUPERHEROES (383 of them) flew around McMaster campus, in glorious weather, cheered on by 137 MARVELous volunteers, and uncounted crowds of WONDERful fans, friends and family. Together, you raised an INCREDIBLE net total of $99,628.01 – making this the most EPIC fundraising event in Wellwood’s history!
We know… We know… Our number is so close to $100,000! Why not just round it up?
This is because we are completely transparent in our fundraising. We don’t adjust figures, and we report totals with all expenses removed -- right down to the penny (quite literally in this case!) This is also why it always takes us a while to announce.
That said, if you really, really want to take us past that $100K finish line, the donation link above is still active!
Professional photos were taken that day by John Ceko and Jennifer Walker, who donated their precious time and incredible talents. Scroll to the bottom of this page for the albums.
Sending out all the gratitude in the UNIVERSE!
DON'T FORGET TO MARK SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2025 IN YOUR CALENDARS!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q. Who benefits from my participation?
A. All of us! The Wellwood WRW rolls out every October with a mandate to raise awareness of colorectal cancer and funds for Wellwood; an organization offering FREE supportive care for those living with a cancer diagnosis and their loved ones/caregivers. The added bonus is that you will get to experience the AMAZING feeling that comes with knowing you have helped others.
Q. I want to form a team or join a team. Why do I have to first register as an individual?
A. Thanks for asking. We are a charity, and so there are limits to our otherwise efficient registration website. You register first as an individual so that we can ensure that we have your information (and your payment), that we have the correct shirt size for you. You can then form a team of 2 or a team of 12 or more….or you can go it alone! It’s all up to you.
Q. Are there age restrictions?
A. Nope. We have a 1K Kids’ run for participants (up to age 14), and kids of all ages are welcome to enter the 5K as well. All children receive a medal at the finish line and are encouraged to fundraise for great age-appropriate prizes. (C’mon, you budding philanthropists!)
Q. What do you mean by “Wheel”?
A. We love cyclists. We really do. However, at THIS event, “WHEEL” DOES NOT INCLUDE BIKES OR ROLLER BLADES. Instead, WHEEL refers to mobility aids like wheelchairs (racing styles, leisure styles, we love them all), scooters used for mobility assistance, walkers and strollers. The great part about this is that Wellwood’s Walk Run Wheel for Colorectal Cancer Awareness is accessible for people of all ages who get around in a variety of ways. It’s as simple as that.
Q. Strollers? Rollerblades? Bikes? Pets?
A. Yes to strollers, no to the others. Sorry, but for safety reasons, there are no roller blades, bikes or pets allowed on the course. Entrants pushing strollers should plan to line up near the rear of the starting area.
Q. Toilets. What if I have to go?
A. Please go before going out on the course (there are no washrooms on the race route)! There are permanent fixtures available in the warm and welcoming world that is the McMaster University Student Centre, where our registration and awards ceremony takes place. You will also find additional washrooms on lower level of Gilmour Hall, accessed off the student centre (Keep an eye out for the signage that we will have posted throughout the building, directing you).
Q. Do you have water stations?
A. Yes we have one water station, at the halfway point of your route. We’ll keep you hydrated.
Q. How much time am I allowed to complete my event?
A. The course closes after 90 minutes. Do not worry. You can do it, and we have marshals positioned throughout the course to help you out.
Q. I feel great about supporting Wellwood…but can I win any medals and prizes?
A. Every participant in the under 14 kids’ run receives a medal at the finish line. And prizes for our top fundraisers will also be awarded!
Q. Will someone else be able to pick up my kit?
A. Yes, with your full name or confirmation number. Kits will include bibs (with pins) and your beautiful Wellwood Walk Run Wheel t-shirt. Kits for kids will include a cape, mask, and a Walk Run Wheel t-shirt.
Q. What is your headphone policy?
A. So that you can fully enjoy the cheers of other athletes and spectators (and hear the directions being given enroute by the race marshals) we strongly recommend that you leave your in-ear music at home during this event.
Q. Do you have parking available?
A. Not only do we have oodles of parking, but it is FREE (courtesy of McMaster). As noted at the top, the lots closest to the Student Centre fill up quickly, so please leave yourself some extra time to walk from the lots located a little farther away.
Q. Can the course accommodate my cheering section?
A. There is plenty of room to line the entire course with your entourage…or if you prefer, they can cheer your arrival across the finish line. This is a very friendly course for spectators.
Q. Sometimes I just wanna dance. Will there be music?
A. We know you want music and fun. We play loud and energetic tunes at the finish line, and – inside – The Hamilton All Star Jazz Band will be on hand to keep you pumped.
Q. Do you have a course map?
