Each hour brings a new opportunity to conquer the course, recover, and prepare for the next lap.
As day turns to night and back again, immerse yourself in the rhythm of the race and the beauty of your surroundings. More than just a test of physical endurance, the Nagdeo Backyard Ultra invites runners to connect with themselves and fellow competitors in a supportive, meditative environment.
Nagdeo Lodge, nestled in the heart of Washington, VT, transforms into a trail runner's sanctuary for the 2024 Nagdeo 15K. This unique event offers participants the opportunity to challenge themselves on rugged mountain trails while experiencing the rejuvenating power of Vermont's natural splendor. The breathtaking trail run takes you through the majestic mountains of Vermont, challenging runners with diverse terrain including dirt byways, grassy meadows, overgrown passages, and horse trails. You'll find moments of introspection and connection with nature that only a twilight trail run can provide.
After conquering the scenic 24-Hour Backyard Ultra trail, celebrate your achievement with live music, delicious local BBQ, and Wood Belly pizzas. Cozy Indoor Lodging at Nagdeo
Runners and their friends can book a private or shared room at the stunning Nagdeo Lodge or one of the three charming cabins on the property. Space is limited, so book soon to secure your preferred room. Indoor lodging ranges from $80-$155 per person per night in the main house or cabins.
Guests staying in the main house or cabins will enjoy premium access to all of Nagdeo's comforts and amenities, including bathrooms, showers, a full kitchen, and inviting common areas.

Outdoor Camping at Nagdeo
For those seeking a closer connection with the outdoors, Nagdeo offers a spectacular camping experience on our sprawling 14-acre property. Set up your tent in one of our designated camping areas and enjoy Vermont's fresh air and birdsong.
Amenities: Camping is available for $29 per person per night. Campers will have access to our pristine drinking well, a communal fire pit area for evening gatherings, and convenient outdoor facilities (porta-potties). Space is limited, so early reservation is recommended.

Waste Management
Designated trash, recycling, and compost bins are available throughout the premises. Please compost all food scraps, as required by Washington, VT regulations. Properly seal all trash to prevent attracting wildlife and insects. Help us maintain a clean, safe environment and protect Vermont's natural habitat.
We appreciate your cooperation in responsibly managing waste during the event. By following these guidelines, you'll help us minimize our environmental impact and ensure a pleasant experience for all participants.
Dog Policy
Only well-behaved dogs are welcome on the property. Dogs must be leashed and under control at all times. No dogs are allowed inside the main house - this rule is strictly enforced. Owners are fully responsible for their dogs' behavior and any damages. Nagdeo is not liable for incidents involving dogs.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests.
Course Support
Aid Stations: There will be one unmanned aid station near the halfway mark. This aid station will have access to ice chests, extra water, electrolyte drinks, and otter pops. We may also put a kiddie pool out there for quick splashing during the day.
Runners are not required to carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup on the course, but it is suggested you bring water and liquids.
There will not be cups available at the unmanned aid station, so be prepared to fill your own water systems. If you require any special drink, nutrition, or other food items on the course, please come prepared.
Porta-potties will be present and on-site near the race start area.
We will have light food and snacks available throughout the event to offer for participants.
Post-Race Refuel and Celebration
After conquering Twilight to Dawn: Vermont's Ultimate Backyard Ultra Saturday night, take a refreshing cold plunge and gather around the evening bonfire, swapping stories with fellow participants under the starry night sky. Refuel after the race with a hearty dinner buffet on Saturday from 8-9 PM.
We will celebrate our victories with live music, delicious local BBQ, and pizza from Wood Bellys, Montpelier, and quench your thirst with locally crafted Vermont beers (for purchase), the perfect post-run refreshment. Limited extra meal tickets are available on-site so please let us know if you will be bringing a guest.
Swag
Celebrate your achievement with an exclusive commemorative medal, custom-designed for finishers. Additionally, take home a unique, high-quality race sticker to showcase your accomplishment. When you register, you can order a shirt or hoodie to commemorate this event.
Results
Unofficial results will be posted as soon as possible after the race. Please note that timers are unable to discuss results during the race. Join us in celebrating the outstanding performances of your fellow runners as we honor their achievements in this challenging twilight trail run. There can only be ONE winner (assuming they finish their last lap)! This person will receive a special award to commemorate their victory. The awards ceremony will take place at approximately 9:00 PM in the main gathering area (location to be announced). Awards will be presented to the top three overall finishers (male and female) and age group winners. Please note that winners must be present to receive their awards. Unofficial results will be posted as soon as possible after the race. Please note that timers are unable to discuss results during the race. Nagdeo Backyard Ultra Rules
• Race format: 4.167-mile laps completed hourly
• Time limit: 1 hour per lap
• Recovery: Remaining time within the hour after completing a lap
• Start time: Exactly on the hour, no early starts
• Elimination: Failure to complete a lap within 1 hour
• Winner: Last runner to complete one more lap than others
• DNF: All runners except the winner
• No winner: If no one completes an extra lap
• Total distance: 100 miles in 24 laps (one day)
• Check-in: 15 minutes before event start (8 pm)
• Mandatory: Check-in after each lap
• Starting corral: Must be present for next lap start
• Voluntary withdrawal: Check out before leaving
• No late starts after cowbell
• Race continues until one runner remains and completes a solo lap
• Whistle signals: 3 at 3 minutes, 2 at 2 minutes, 1 at 1 minute before start
• Cow bell: Signals race start
• After cowbell: No crew visits, tent/vehicle access, or outside aid
• Course restrictions: Stay on course except for porta-potty use
• Between laps: Free time after check-in, must return to corral before next start
• No pacing allowed
• Crew/spectators: Restricted to designated areas near start/finish

• No artificial aids (e.g., trekking poles) allowed
