This annual event is dedicated to Makayla, who has been a patient of LeBonheur's since birth, in November 2012. The physicians began caring for her on November 8th when she was born at Methodist Germantown, surprisingly four weeks early, to her parents and family, with 3 holes in her heart!! Her Cardiologist immediately knew that due to the size and the location of the larger hole, Makayla would need a surgical intervention. She had Open heart surgery at 7 weeks old at LeBonheur, January 4, 2013. She was on to a great recovery at one and a half when her Cardio team at LeBonheur recognized a sub aortic membrane growth near her lung valve. It had to be extracted before it obstructed blood flow. Makayla had another open heart surgery at 2 years old, March 17, 2015. Praise God, surgery was a success again!! From that day to this one, Makayla has lived a normal life, no restrictions, no heart ER visits, just a totally blessed life!! For this success story, there's many others to prove that  LeBonheur is a special place and does a remarkable job at saving lives!!! Please join us in support of them!!
