Your responsibilities include welcoming participants, assisting with check-in procedures, and distributing race packets and bibs. You’ll also manage on-site registrations, answer participant inquiries, and ensure a smooth flow of participants through the registration process. A friendly and organized demeanor will be beneficial in this role.
➢ Course Marshals
Course Marshals are crucial to the safety and direction of the event. You’ll be positioned at specific points along the race route to ensure participants follow the correct path. Your role includes guiding runners and walkers, monitoring the course for any safety issues or emergencies, and providing encouragement and support. Staying alert and being clear in your communication is key to this position.
➢ Water Station Attendants
As a Water Station Attendant, you will be responsible for setting up and managing water stations along the course. This includes filling and distributing water cups to participants and maintaining cleanliness around the station area. Your energy and efficiency will help keep participants hydrated and motivated throughout the event.
➢ SHI Info Booth Attendants
SHI Info Booth Attendants will serve as the face of the Dash4Diabetes event, providing valuable information to participants and spectators. You will answer questions about the event, share details about SHI’s mission and upcoming activities, distribute promotional materials, and collect donations if applicable. Strong communication skills and a passion for community health are ideal for this role.
➢ Kids Zone Attendants
As a Kids Zone Attendant, you will supervise children’s activities and games in the designated area. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the children participating, engaging them with age-appropriate entertainment and keeping the area organized and secure. This role is perfect for those who enjoy working with children and creating a fun, safe environment.
➢ Setup Crew
The Setup Crew is essential in preparing the event area. You will assist in arranging tents, tables, chairs, and signage, as well as setting up the registration area, water stations, and finish line. Ensuring that all setups meet safety standards and are ready on time will be a key responsibility. Physical stamina and problem-solving skills will be important as you help create a well-organized event space.
➢ Event Breakdown Crew
The Event Breakdown Crew is responsible for efficiently dismantling and packing up all event equipment and supplies after the race. You will clean up the event area, ensuring that it’s left in good condition, and assist with inventory and storage of materials. This role is vital for wrapping up the event smoothly and ensuring everything is properly accounted for. Attention to detail and a strong work ethic are key in this position.
➢ Medical Support Team
The Medical Support Team is responsible for the health and safety of all participants. You will provide first aid and medical assistance as needed, monitor attendees for any signs of distress or injury, and coordinate with emergency services if necessary. This role requires certified medical professionals such as EMTs, nurses, or doctors, along with current CPR and first aid certification. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring the well-being of everyone involved.

As a Volunteer Team Lead, you will oversee and coordinate specific volunteer groups, ensuring smooth operation in your designated area. You’ll delegate tasks, provide guidance to team members, and communicate with event organizers to address needs and resolve any issues promptly. Leadership and organizational abilities are essential, and while prior experience in team coordination is preferred, it is not required except for the Medical Support Lead, who must have advanced medical qualifications.
