Welcome to the third edition of The McIntosh 10K. The McIntosh Run Single Track Trail System is a great community project that The Macintosh Run Watershed Association have developed here in the HRM. We are thrilled to host The McIntosh 10K trail race on these well-maintained granite trails here in our backyard.
This 10km race will be entirely on the trails this time! Participants will be running a fun loop through the twists and turns of the many trails this area has to offer. These trails are primarily hard-surfaced with just enough roots and rocks to keep things interesting. It's a unique setting that was damaged by a forest fire years back which offers views of the Halifax Harbour and Flat Lake. This race course is accommodating to all abilities, from folks running their first trail race, fast roadies, to your toughest trail runners.
This race will go forward in just about any weather. Please come prepared for ice and snow should we get an early blast of winter. Some type of traction aid (slip-on spikes, studded shoes, a bag of sand) would be highly advisable if it's a slippery morning.
Given last year's interest we expect this one could sell out fast, so please sign up fast if you'd like to participate. We're looking forward to having some fun with you all.
A HUGE thanks to all of our corporate and local partners for their support. From prizing to food and beverages we couldn't offer everything we do without their help.
Sign in will open at 7:30am on race day and close at 8:45am so please show up a bit early to get your bib. We will also arrange a pre-race bib pick-up TBA at a later date. The race will start at 9am sharp. We will be sending out an email to all competitors with more details on the course, parking, sponsors, etc.
There is no mandatory gear for this race. We only ask that you to stay on the course, be nice, and have FUN!
Click HERE for the Strava Link of the course.
There will be Prizing for both the 10km Podium finishers and the over 50 winners (male and female) plus a bunch of door prizes up for grabs as always.
The McIntosh Run Watershed Association (MRWA) plays a crucial role in conserving the McIntosh Run watershed while creating sustainable access through the McIntosh Run Singletrack trail system. Located just minutes from downtown Halifax, this network of natural-surface trails offers a unique wilderness experience for trail runners, hikers, and mountain bikers. The trails are built with a "trails-for-all, trails-by-all" approach, relying on contributions from a dedicated volunteer community. Since 2016, MRWA has developed over 27kms of singletrack trails. These trails wind through diverse landscapes, including forests, granite barrens, and wetlands, providing both recreational opportunities and a means of protecting the watershed's natural state. As MRWA continues to expand the trail system, including the recent approval of Phase 2 development which will add 16k of new singletrack, your support helps ensure these trails remain a valuable resource for both recreation and conservation. Reach out or visit the MRWA WEBSITE to learn to build trails or work as a member of our board!
We hope you can join us for a fun!
