This fully comprehensive multi session intro course will set you and your dog up for success on the trail together.
You & your dog will learn:
- How to start & stop
- How to speed up & slow down
- How to safely pass others without engaging
- How to anticipate & avoid distractions
- How to navigate directions
- How to read your dog’s body language in harness
- Proper trail etiquette in racing & training and when sharing public trails
You will learn how harness dog sport gear works, best practices for safety, mileage building and training plan basics. Homework between sessions will help you and your dog master the basics and build fitness together as a team. This course is primarily conducted as canicross with the option to add wheels at the end.

- Online Classroom Session: Sept 11 @ 7:30pm
- Class 1: Monday, Sept. 16 @6:30pm
- Class 2: Monday, Oct. 7@ 6:30pm
- Class 3: Monday, Nov. 18 @ 6:30pm
- Fun Run in Moncton, NB: Dec 14 @ 10:00am
Program Inclusions: 1 online classroom session, 3 in-person coached practical sessions, training plan & homework, MAHDS membership (Value $35), 1 race registration (value $35), free spring refresher (value $40), discounted registration at all DogRunnin races for the 2024-25 season.
Gear: All participants are required to use appropriate harness dog sports gear (canicross belt, properly fitted pulling harness and bungee). This ensures both you and your dog have a safe and therefor fun experience learning these new skills! We are happy to help you select the correct gear for you and your dog, so if you need help or want to borrow gear for your first class, please don't hesitate to let us know!
