Outrun Hunger is our annual two week-long virtual race (3km, 5km, 10km) in support of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. Registration fee is $10.00. All registration fees will be donated directly to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region. Any donations made in addition to the registration fee will be eligible for a tax receipt – every $1 you share will provide 2 meals. All registrants will be eligible to win prizes courtesy of your favourite local run shop, Runners' Choice Waterloo!
The Food Bank of Waterloo Region is seeing the highest need for food assistance in our community in their almost 40-year history. That means more and more people in Waterloo Region are struggling with the rising costs of food, rent, and gas, and have little leftover for things like holiday celebrations. 1 in 8 households in Waterloo region are accessing food support.
With support from community leaders like you, they can ensure that all residents have access to the food they need. The foods and funds donated through community fundraisers allow them to fill gaps in their inventory, buy food to meet diverse cultural and dietary needs, keep their delivery vehicles on the road, and support the Community Food Assistance Network, a system of more than 120 community programs and agency partners working together to provide food, support, and services for people in need across Waterloo region.

About The Food Bank:
The Food Bank of Waterloo Region is committed to providing emergency food assistance and support throughout the region, ensuring no one is left behind. Working in collaboration with 120+ community programs and agency partners, our goal is to reduce hunger in our region and identify proactive solutions to address poverty and food insecurity.

*An individual can register for one, two, or all three race distances. Your name will be entered into the draw for each race registered. You will receive an email shortly after registration outlining how to submit your virtual race result(s).
Additional Prizes (For the Strava users):
We have created a 3km Strava Segment for all registrants (3km, 5km, 10km) to run/walk during Outrun Hunger. The first place Men and Women will win a pair of shoes, and all registrants who run/walk the segment will be entered into a draw for a free pair of shoes.
*There is no submission process for the Strava Segment. We will check the Strava leaderboards daily.
*You don't have to be registered for the 3km to run the 3km Strava segment. This is a bonus for all race registrants!
Donate In-Store:
No registration required! Visit us - We will be collecting donations of non-perishable items during Outrun Hunger. Everyone who donates will receive a 25% off coupon to the store that expires December 31st, 2025. Cash donations will not be accepted.
*Some rules/exclusions apply to the 25% off coupon. Please talk to a staff member present when making a donation in-store.
