A trail race for a great cause! The Salomon Bay 50 is proudly supporting the St. Margaret's Bay Food Bank once again!
Both monetary donations (a portion of the registration fee) and non-perishable food items will be part of registering, so let's get together and help out those in need while doing what we love...trail running!
$15 from every registration fee will be donated to the local food bank! https://www.facebook.com/smbfoodbank/ ...plus you'll be required to bring along 4 non-perishable food items to race check-in as part of your registration :)
The distance options...14k, 25k and 50k.
You'll have a great mix of everything: rail trail, sweet singletrack, a few ATV trails, and some gravel roads.
Elevation gain/loss for the 14k = ~360m
Elevation gain/loss for the 25k = ~758m
Elevation gain/loss for the 50k = ~1515m
Sunrise: ~7:37am//Sunset: ~4:33pm
Mandatory gear:
1 charged up cell phone (with RD's phone number)
1 waterproof jacket
1 first aid kit (gauze pads or similar, band aids, duct tape or medical tape (3+ft), and an emergency blanket)
1 buff or toque
1L water bladder or 2 bottles/flasks, etc.
Drink and food for the loop.
Headlamp?! :)
**Random gear checks will be done on course. If you're missing gear, we can't allow you to continue**
Aid stations: we will have 2 aid stations on course. They will be at 7k (water and Tailwind only at this one) and at 12.5k (usual aid station fare -- food and drinks).
No pacers and no crew access. Crew is only allowed to help out their runner at the start/finish area.

The fine print:
*Selling your spot is an option if you can't make it.
*Deferring is also an option if you can't make it!
*No refunds though and no dogs allowed on course.
*No cups at the aid stations as usual, so bring your own drinking do-hickey!
