The 5 beer 5k is back!
Meetup anytime after 6pm, Run Starts at 7pm. Potluck Dinner to follow.
What the heck is a 5 beer 5k?
It's kind of exactly how it sounds. You have to run 5k and consume 5 beers. The event starts with you drinking your first beer, then you run an out and back kilometre. Repeat this until you are done 5 beers and 5k. Timing starts from the first sip of your first drink and ends when you cross the finish line of your 5th kilometre.
What drinks are acceptable?
355ml cans or 341ml bottles are both acceptable. Standard Corona bottles are 300ml and do not meet the minimum ml requirement, so sorry friends, just another Corona situation letting us down.
No one is stopping you from using 473ml cans (but why? Who hurt you?)
One thing you can't do is use additional devices or methods that would help you drink faster. I.E. no shotgunning or torpedoing your way to a record 5k
We are open to other types of alcohol. Want to use a seltzer? Sure go ahead. You like a Smirnoff ice? We're judging, but that's cool too.
We also want to be inclusive of our sober(ish) friends as well, so if you would rather use a low ABV or 0.0% option, we are here for you. However, all drinks have to have carbonation.
Honestly, it's not the alcohol content that makes this event hard, it's all the liquid and carbonation that'll get you.
Speaking of drinks. Please plan to bring your drinks in a cooler, we will not have enough space to accommodate all of your drinks.
To prove you have completely finished your drink of choice, you are required to turn your drinking vessel upside down over your head when completed before you start your next km out and back.
Now the question I'm sure you are all wondering about . . . That's a lot of beer, what if I throw up?
We are going to defer to the world championship rules here. "If you puke before crossing the finish, you’re disqualified — or you can do a penalty 1K. Puking multiple times doesn’t mean you have to do multiple 1K penalty laps, though. Puke must hit the ground or the runners body to be considered for disqualification. If the runner has a “heavy” burp and re-swallows whatever came up, they are not disqualified. I know — this is gross. But, I’ve seen the issue come up (pardon the pun) so it had to be clarified."
This all sounds great, but I just can't imagine getting through 5 beers!?
We will also have a 2 beer 5k option, where you drink half a drink before each km loop.
