This event is geared toward the person who has been living with migraine and headache disease for years, those who are recently diagnosed, as well as people who are wondering if they might have migraine. Our panelists for the event include renowned headache specialists, pain psychologist, and mindfulness facilitator.
This event will be a combination of presentations and interactive sessions with direct access to providers. You’ll gain a better understanding of the diagnosis process, as well as the most effective migraine management plans available.

Meet the speakers:
Sait Ashina, MD, FAHS
Dr. Ashina, is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School. He is a Director of Comprehensive Headache Center at BIDMC, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, USA. Dr. Ashina graduated from the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Health Sciences, Denmark. He is a member of the Education Committee of the International Headache Society. Dr. Ashina also served as a member of the International Headache Society headache classification subcommittee for the latest edition of the International Classification of Headache Disorders. Dr. Ashina currently serves as a trustee on the Board of the International Headache Society. He is a member of Editorial Board for the Journal of Headache and Pain and is Associated Editor of Cephalalgia, Neurology Reviews, Frontiers in Neurology and BMC Neurology. He is a recipient of the Enrico Greppi Award for excellence in headache research.
Dr. Ashina is currently involved in several research projects at Harvard Medical School. His research interests include epidemiology of headache and chronic pain, quantitative sensory testing, human pain models, brain imaging and structural brain lesions in migraine, migraine and vestibular dysfunction, implication of photophobia in pathophysiology and treatment of migraine. He is an investigator of clinical trials in migraine, including clinical trials involving novel treatments in migraine and pain.
Paul G. Mathew, MD, DNBPAS, FAAN, FAHS
Dr. Mathew, completed his neurology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, and then completed a fellowship in headache medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is board certified in neurology and headache medicine. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School (HMS), and an Affiliate Member of the HMS Division of Sleep Medicine. He holds positions at three HMS affiliated institutions. He has clinical appointments at Mass General Brigham Health and Atrius Health, as well as a teaching appointment at the Cambridge Health Alliance. As part of his headache and sports neurology/concussion practice, Dr. Mathew performs Botox injections, nerve blocks, and trigger point injections.
In terms of his academic responsibilities, he has been involved in the education of countless neurology, psychiatry, internal medicine, family medicine, dental medicine, pain medicine, and headache medicine trainees. He has written over 90 publications, and has presented at both national and international conferences. Dr. Mathew has served as a peer reviewer for multiple journals including the American Journal of Managed Care, the British Medical Journal, Cephalalgia, the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, Headache, Headache Currents, the Journal of Neuroimaging, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Molecular Genetics & Genomic Medicine, Neurology, the New England Journal of Medicine, Pain Medicine, and Sleep. He is the Co-Chief Medical Editor of the journal Practical Neurology. He is an active member of several medical societies including the American Academy of Neurology, the Massachusetts Neurological Association, the International Headache Society, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin. He is the current Chair of the American Headache Society’s Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalgia Section, a Member of the Board of the Directors of the National Headache Foundation, an Executive Board Member of the Indian Medical Association of New England, and an Executive Board Member of the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine.
As a graduate of the American Academy of Neurology’s Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum, Dr. Mathew applies his passion and expertise to the role of advocate for both patients and fellow physicians. He has participated in multiple successful lobbying efforts in Washington, DC headed by the American Academy of Neurology and the Alliance for Headache Advocacy to improve patient access to healthcare and research funding. In addition, Dr. Mathew applies his passion for patient education/advocacy having served as a contributor on the Harvard Medical School Health Blog (www.health.harvard.edu/blog/author/pgmathew), Migraine Again (www.migraineagain.com), the Migraine World Summit (https://migraineworldsummit.com/), and Miles for Migraine (https://www.milesformigraine.org/).
In March, 2015, Dr. Mathew was appointed as the neurology representative on the advisory board of the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons (www.NBPAS.org). The National Board of Physicians and Surgeons is an organization committed to providing board re-certification that ensures physician compliance with national standards and lifelong learning after completing initial board certification with a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
His advocacy work also includes diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts in the domains of race, ethnicity, gender, and age. Since 2020, he has served on the Diversity Committee of the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine. He has also given a lecture titled “Ten Action Items To Combat Peer to Peer and Institutional Racial Bias In Medicine” to multiple state/regional medical societies, and a manuscript by the same name was published in 2024. Through his leadership positions within Practical Neurology, AAN, AHS, NHF, and NBPAS, he has lobbied for underrepresented groups in medicine to have greater leadership, speaking, authorship, and editorial opportunities.
Ronald J. Kulich, PhD
Dr. Kulich holds an appointment at Harvard-MGH, Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, and has served as a Full Professor and clinical psychologist at the Dept of Diagnostic Sciences Facial Pain Center at Tufts School of Dental Medicine. He has published multiple peer reviewed papers and three books on pain assessment and management, with recent work as a director of the Interprofessional Pain and Headache Rounds, an international educational platform reaching clinicians, scientists, and pubic policy stakeholders. His recent research and grant funding focuses on controlled substance risk mitigation, and improving pain care access. Other academic responsibilities have included an appointment on the Massachusetts Healthcare Services Board and co-chair of the Massachusetts Governor’s Committee for the Curriculum on Substance Abuse assessment. Fellowship training responsibilities include supervision of Anesthesia/Pain Medicine Fellows.
Sepideh Hariri, PhD
Dr. Sepideh Hariri received her PhD in Physics with a research focus in Biophysics and Medical Imaging. She has been an active educator and researcher for over fifteen years. Sepideh is currently an instructor at Harvard Medical School and the Program Manager at the Sadhguru Center for a Conscious Planet, a multidisciplinary research center based the Harvard-affiliate hospital Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. Inspired by her profound experiences with contemplative practices, her current research is focused on the impact of meditation-based interventions on brain health, cognition, and optimal aging.
