TIFF & VALTTERI
Join Gravel riding legends Tiff Cromwell and Valtteri Bottas (also known for his Formula One skills :))... for a once in a lifetime weekend. Kicking off on Friday evening with ride check-in and a pre-ride dinner, we set the stage for your epic 90km ride through the breathtaking Watagans on Saturday.
After conquering the trails, explore the tiny village of Wollombi and indulge in a smoked BBQ festival complete with live music, locals wines and craft beer on Saturday evening.
On Sunday, unwind with a leisurely recovery ride up the Boree Valley followed by a delicious brunch.
A perfect way to start your Christmas break.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Wollombi Gravel Fest is not a race. Think of it more of a celebration of riding your bike in nature with family, friends (and celebrities) and enjoying live music, amazing beer, local wines and good food.
To participate we expect you to:
- Follow the rules of the road at all times. The roads will not be closed to traffic.
- Respect other riders around you
- Be at a sufficient fitness level to complete the distance of the course and understand how to manage your equipment and food intake
- Be able to follow the gpx downloadable route files via strava or another means.
- Be experienced at navigating and following a GPX route

AUSCYCLING LICENCE
It is recommended that you obtain an AusCycling licence for this event. If you don't already have one you can obtain one here.
FAMILIES
Wollombi Gravel Fest is family friendly. Riders under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult.
Day two is particularly good for younger riders as there is an option to turn around at any point along the out and back course. 50% discount applies for riders under 18. It is not recommended that riders under 15 sign up for Day 1.
ACCOMMODATION
Wollombi has some lovely places to stay, most of which are listed via the Visit Wollombi website, Hunter Valley Escapes or Wollombi Valley Stays.
There are multiple campgrounds and private campsites nearby including , Cranky Rock, Wattle Valley Farm and The old Pub House and smaller private ones Wollombi Rolling Ridges and Wollombi Springs.

Wollombi Gravel Fest Unbound. Starting in Wollombi we’ll ride south along Great North road on paved road. At Murrays Run we’ll turn left and this is where you leave the pavement behind and enjoy the quiet dirt roads. You’ll travel up towards Bucketty through gorgeous paddocks and up a lovely climb. At the top you’ll turn left and head into the Watagans, down Watagan Creek road and finish the first loop at Laguna. At this point you turn left and right and head over the hill into Yango Creek road and enjoy a scenic ride home.

Wollombi Gravel Fest Boree Track Recovery Closed
Boree track out and back. Starting in Wollombi we’ll ride up Yango Creek Road to the Boree Valley Road turn-off at 9km. From there we ride out and back on Boree Valley road and back down Yango Creek road arriving in Wollombi for your recovery brunch.

Day 1 Course route - Wollombi Gravel Fest Unbound

Approx 3.5-4 hour
Starting in Wollombi we’ll ride south along Great North road on paved road. We are leaving at 8am before anybody in the valley likes to wake up and before tourist traffic will come in the opposite direction.
At Murrays Run we’ll turn left and this is where you leave the pavement behind and enjoy the quiet dirt roads. You’ll travel up towards Bucketty through gorgeous paddocks and up a lovely climb.
At the top you’ll turn left and head into the Watagans, down Watagan Creek road and finish the first loop at Laguna.
At this point you turn left on to Great North Road, ride 2km before turning right on to Yango Creek Road, over the hill down the scenic Yango Creek road towards Wollombi.
Day 2 - Wollombi Gravel Fest Recovery loop Boree Track

Starting in Wollombi we’ll ride up Yango Creek Road to the Boree Valley Road turn-off at 9km. From there we ride out and back on Boree Valley road, turn around at the turning point and ride back to Wollombi. If you want an easier ride this day, you can turn around at any time.
