Santa Resolution 8km Fun Run

This event is a runner/walker social event with no focus on racing! Its all about jump starting your new year’s resolution of staying fit and keeping connected with friends and encouraging each other to stay active over the winter months, while having fun.

Distance: 8 km

When: Saturday Dec 7, 2024

Start time: 10:30 am for all.

Start location: Community Christian Reform Church, (CCRC)1275 Bleams Rd, Kitchener, ON

Cost: $25.00 plus Race Roster transaction fee (reasonable fee for what is included)

Limited field: Limited to the first 60 entries. (53 entries last year)! Registration will close at 5 pm on Thursday Dec 5, 2024.

Course: Starting from Community Christian Reform Church parking lot then:

• Turn right onto Bleams Rd and follow for about 225 meters to Washburn Rd.
• Continue on Washburn Rd approx 600 meters to Trillium Dr.
• Turn right onto Trillium Dr and continue for approx 600 meters to the entrance to Huron Natural Area.
• As you enter the parking lot area at Huron Natural Area, you can run your choice of trails. The trails will not be marked, so you will have to be familiar with HNA.
• After you have run or walked approx 5 km, head back the same way you came.
• Look for small pylons that say fun run on your return.

Reception: A reception will follow at 11:45 am with pizza delivery at noon. There will also be Tim Hortons coffee, water bottles and bottled Gatorade, as well as a variety of desserts, at CCRC. The pizzas will be:

• Canadian
• Vegetarian
• Gluten free

Please let us know on or before Dec 4th, if you prefer the gluten free, to ensure we order enough for all.

Special Guest: Santa will be making his appearance during the draw prizes, from 12:15 pm -12:30 pm.

Prizes: Multiple draws will take place at the CCRC for all registered participants and you do not have to be present to win a draw prize. There will be $50.00 Runners Choice gift cards drawn. If the event sells out, I will guarantee that one in every 6 registered participants will win a gift card.

Naughty or Nice: Santa will be giving out a small gift to all in attendence who are naughty or nice.

New Year's Resolutions: Submit your resolution for an additional draw prize to tonymartinruns@gmail.com

Washroom: CCRC has full washrooms available for your convenience and the facility will open at 10 am.

Event Cancelation: If the event is cancelled for ANY reason, all participants will get a 100% deferral to the St Patrick's day fun run/walk that will be planned at the same location, in March. If the trails are icy on Dec 7th, please bring shoe traction for your safty or you will have the option of running out 4km and back 4km on sidewalks. All right turns on road route from CCRC. Details on the day of the event.

Name tags: Upon arrival to facility, all registered participants will receive a name tag. This name tag allows you access to this facility function. All in attendance must wear their tags.

Events proceeds: After all expenses have been met, the remainder of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the CCRC.
