1. ENTER-DRAW | Dec 1-30

Enter yourself, a friend, a family member, a neighbour, someone, or anyone who hasn't run the Vancouver Marathon by noon-Dec 30. No purchase is necessary. Submit a full name and a contact (email). All entries will be verified. They must NOT have run the BMO Vancouver Marathon (it's okay to run other races and other distances, but not 42.2k in Van). All entries into the draw will be verified first-time 604 marathoners. The drawing of the entry will be on NYE (Dec 31). All entries will be notified.

2. REGISTER-DONATE | Dec 13-24

If you have the means and are interested in supporting as a volunteer or doanting a loonie (or more), event entries/ donations start at $2. Choose as many entries as you'd like. Anything is appreciated. The funds raised from this annual DIY fundraiser will be donated to the marathon race entry we are raffling off. Additional funds have gone to various initiatives specifically showcasing the legacy from the event over the past 5+ decades of running in our city. Additional funds helped support the official race measurement and certification of the original '72 course and annual permit fees.

3. CHEER-JOIN IN | Dec 30

For those considering cheering or running a little (or a lot), the run is held (annually) on Dec 30. The route is the first Vancouver Marathon course. The original 1972 course is 5 x 5ish mile loops (like the NYC Marathon's original 5 loops in Central Park - original map below) Each year the course is run in alternating directions from Harry Jerome (#iykyk). The event distance was certified by BC Athletics/ Athletics Canada for the 50th anniversary and will be laid out specifically to the certification details. Start and finish are just east of the Harry Jerome statue across from the totem poles (parking & washrooms available)

Hoping a few people will join me at the end of December to dabble in a long day of Type 2 fun in classic westcoast winter conditions. It's an unlikely time to run, a modest fundraiser, and unique way to celebrate legacy...
