The Cause
International Rett Syndrome Foundation purpose is to support and encourage medical research to determine the cause, treatment and cure for Rett syndrome, and to provide informational and emotional support to families of those with Rett Syndrome.
About Rett Syndrome
Rett syndrome is a rare non-inherited genetic neurological disorder that affects 1 in 10,000 females (and even more rarely in males) and begins to display itself in missed milestones or regression at 6-18 months. Rett syndrome leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of life: ability to speak, walk, eat and breathe easily. The hallmark of Rett syndrome is near constant repetitive hand movements while awake. Cognitive assessment in children with Rett syndrome is complicated, but we know that they understand far more than they can communicate to us, evidenced by their bright and attentive eyes, and their ability to express a wide spectrum of moods and emotions.
Our Mission
For 20 years, we have relentlessly pursued advanced and comprehensive research to transform the lives of all those affected by Rett syndrome. We are focused on delivering treatments and ultimately a cure for Rett syndrome while empowering families with the resources, connections and encouragement they need to thrive.

T-shirts for the first 200 participants. Grove 26 is located off of Arlington Heights Road - just south of Higgins Road
Post race activities include music, food and awards.
The race will start and finish at Grove #26. Enter Busse Woods off of Arlington Heights Road, south of Higgins Road in Elk Grove Village.

Follow these easy steps to prepare for your tracking:
 TRACKING STEPS 1. Download the ASICS Runkeeper™ app to your phone and create an account or scroll down to log into an existing account Once you have completed your distance in the app, save your workout and it will automatically post to Race Roster results. (This step must be followed from your mobile device) |
 VIEWING AND POSTING MANUAL RESULTS If you plan to record using another software or tracking device or post manually from what is recorded on your watch, simply head here and "Submit Virtual Result" between April 19 and May 3, 2025. |

- To record with tracking on the ASICS Runkeeper™ app, you will need to run or walk with your phone or with a connected wearable (see instructions below)
- You do not have to track with these technologies, it is optional!
