The Maple Leaf March is a world-class, non-competitive, inclusive, and not-for-profit international walking event held annually in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, in Canada. Its mission is to promote walking as a recreational and fitness activity; foster international understanding and friendships; and showcase the main monuments, memorials, green spaces, and parks of Canada’s National Capital Region.
The Maple Leaf March is not a race. The goal is rather for all participants to succeed in a supportive environment.
The March is held every year during the second weekend of October, allowing walkers to experience the beauty of the Canadian autumn.
The Maple Leaf March is an official event of both the IML Walking Association and the International Federation of Popular Sports. As such, it joins dozens of similar events in North America, Europe, and Asia in promoting walking and good will between people from all over the world.

- Opening ceremonies

- Departure and end of all Saturday and Sunday walks
- Evening programs on the Friday and Saturday

La Marche Maple Leaf est un festival international de marche de classe mondiale, non compétitif, inclusif et sans but lucratif qui se tient chaque année dans la région d'Ottawa-Gatineau, au Canada. Sa mission est de promouvoir la marche en tant qu'activité physique et récréative, de favoriser la compréhension et les amitiés internationales et de mettre en valeur les principaux monuments mémoriaux, espaces verts et parcs de la région de la capitale nationale du Canada.
La Marche Maple Leaf n’est pas une course. Son but est plutôt de voir tous les marcheurs réussir au sein d’un environnement qui les appuie.
La Marche a lieu tous les ans durant la deuxième fin de semaine d’octobre, permettant ainsi aux participants de profiter de la beauté de l’automne canadien.
La Marche Maple Leaf est un événement officiel de la IML Walking Association et de la Fédération Internationale des Sports Populaires. À ce titre, elle se joint à des dizaines d’événements similaires en Amérique du Nord, en Europe et en Asie pour faire la promotion de la marche et de la bonne entente entre les peuples.

The Saturday and Sunday Events are mandatory to meet IML awards requirements.
