Role Description: Water Bottle Station Volunteers (6 volunteers needed)
Description: As a Water Bottle Station Volunteer, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring participants stay hydrated. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the water bottle station during the 5K walk, distributing bottled water to walkers, and giving directions. Your friendly and helpful attitude will enhance the overall experience for everyone attending.
Responsibilities:
Maintain the water bottle station, interacting with participants and giving directions
Distribute water bottles to participants
Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the water bottle station
Provide information and assistance to participants as needed
Additional Duties: Assist with setup, teardown, and registration as needed
Please note: A Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last 12 months is required for all volunteers in this role
Role Description: Walk Route Marshall Volunteers (6 volunteers needed)
Description: Walk Route Marshall Volunteers are essential for ensuring the safety and smooth navigation of participants along the walk route. You'll be stationed at key points along the route - likely holding a directional sign - to provide directions, offer encouragement, and monitor the flow of walkers. Your presence will help create a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Responsibilities:
Station yourself at designated points along the walk route
Provide clear directions and guidance to participants
Monitor the flow of walkers and report any issues or concerns
Offer encouragement and support to participants
Assist with any emergencies or incidents along the route
Additional Duties: Assist with setup, teardown, and registration as needed

Role Description: Lead Walk Route Marshall Volunteer (1 volunteer needed)
Description: Walk Route Marshall Volunteers are essential for ensuring the safety and smooth navigation of participants along the walk route. As the lead Walk Route Marshall, you will be responsible for leading the walk when it begins. You will be holding some sort of identifier (flag, etc.) when you lead the walk. Once you have done one lap, you will be stationed at a TBC location for the duration of the walk, to provide directions, offer encouragement, and monitor the flow of walkers. Your presence will help create a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
Responsibilities:
Lead the walk when it begins
Once you have done one lap, you will station yourself at a designated point along the walk route
Provide clear directions and guidance to participants
Monitor the flow of walkers and report any issues or concerns
Offer encouragement and support to participants
Assist with any emergencies or incidents along the route

Role Description: Activity Supervisor Volunteer (1 volunteer needed)
Description: As an Activity Supervisor Volunteer, you'll oversee various activities and ensure they run smoothly during the event. You'll assist the individuals running the TBC activity stations, and ensure the activities stay on track. Your organizational skills and proactive approach will contribute to a successful and enjoyable event.
Responsibilities:
Greet activity station community partners (the individuals running the stations) upon arrival
Ensure activity station community partners are taken care of (water, food breaks, washroom breaks)
Assist with set up and/or tear down of activity stations
Oversee various activities during the event, providing support to the individuals running the activities
Oversee memorial activities
Manage activity schedules and ensure they stay on track
Provide assistance and information to participants
Ensure all activities are safe and enjoyable for participants.
Report any issues or concerns to event organizers
Additional Duties: Assist with setup, teardown, and registration as needed

Role Description: Parking Attendant Volunteer (1 additional volunteer needed)
Description: Parking Attendant Volunteers will help direct traffic for Walk to Remember participants, manage parking areas, and ensure that all participants can park and exit smoothly and safely.
Responsibilities:
Direct Walk to Remember participant vehicles to designated parking areas, whether that be to parking spots in the Lakeside Park lot, or overflow parking
Ensure the orderly flow of traffic
Assist Walk to Remember participants with parking and exiting
Provide information and directions as needed
Monitor parking areas for any issues or concerns
Additional Duties: Assist with setup, teardown, and registration as needed

Role Description: Rover Volunteers (2 volunteers needed)
Description: Rovers will provide emotional support and encouragement to participants throughout the event. You’ll be available to listen, offer comfort, and ensure that everyone feels supported. You’ll be identified by name to our participants during opening remarks.
Responsibilities:
Will be identified by name during Opening Remarks as helpers who can offer emotional and logistical assistance as-needed, and as someone who can be
Offer emotional support and encouragement to participants
Be available to listen to and comfort participants
Direct participants who are feeling overstimulated to a designated private space (this spot will be pointed out to you on September 20)
Monitor participants for signs of distress
Work closely with first aid volunteer
Provide a friendly and supportive presence throughout the event
Support our Buddy System: If a participant indicates at registration that they don’t have someone to walk with, we’ll pair them with a Rover or another participant, or direct them to a meeting spot on-site where they can be matched

Role Description: Check-In Volunteers (3 additional volunteers needed)
Description: Check-In Volunteers will manage the check-in process for participants. You’ll welcome attendees, provide event materials, and ensure a smooth check-in process process.

Welcome and check in participants
Provide event materials and information
Assist with any registration issues or questions
Ensure a smooth and efficient check-in process
Report any problems to event organizers
