Zip Code East Bay is proud to present the seventh annual Colusa Circle 5K, a race to raise funds for a charitable cause. We look forward to seeing you at the Colusa Circle this year for the family-friendly fun run (walk and roll, too)!
This year's race beneficiary is THE WATERSHED PROJECT (TWP), our neighbor in Richmond. Their mission is to inspire San Francisco Bay Area communities to understand, appreciate, and protect our local watersheds. The Watershed Project is growing positive change through community-based action and education that promotes nature-based solutions, social/community empowerment, and neighborhood-level adaptation to climate change in local watersheds and shorelines. We all live in a watershed and we all live downstream from somewhere. Caring for the watershed starts on our front steps and our backyards.
TWP works in many watersheds around the East Bay and San Francisco, and is currently working on a 3-year initiative in the Wildcat Creek Watershed. The Wildcat Watershed drains from Berkeley through Albany, Kensington, El Cerrito, San Pablo, and Richmond, into the North Richmond shoreline. They lead restoration activities and promote watershed stewardship through workdays, community science, education programs, local advocacy and other collaborative initiatives. The Watershed Project works to restore and maintain the health of the creek and its environment. Learn more at https://thewatershedproject.org/.
Register early (before Feb 22nd) for a discounted rate!
We will also be collecting used running shoes and new socks for people and communities in need. Shoe and sock donations can either be dropped off at Zip Code East Bay prior to the event or on race day at the starting line.
What to (or what not to) Expect
- This is a charity race - we are here to raise money and have fun, not to set any personal racing records.
- The course is not USATF certified.
- The race will take place RAIN OR SHINE!
- There will be runners, walkers, rollers and strollers on the course: look out for one another and be respectful of your fellow racers.
- ALWAYS stay on the sidewalk.
- Respect all traffic signals, keep an eye out for signage and for volunteers with safety vests along the race route - they are there to keep you safe!
- We will honor the first finishers (but everyone gets a high five for showing up and participating.)
