This is the Thul Family Team's 6th year of fundraising for the MN SCADADDLE for research. It really is an amazing way to spread awareness and raise money for research on SCAD.
Denise has a SCAD heart attack at 27 years old. She was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to be saved by paramedics. Unfortunately SCAD was so rarely diagnosed at that time it took 5 days of being hospitalized to even get a diagnosis! For 5 days we knew her heart stopped and had no idea why.
Twelve years later we still don't know a specific reason for Denise's SCAD, but we are getting closer. Every year the researchers at the Mayo Clinic and other institutions are finding more evidence of potential genetic markers. More people are being diagnosed with SCAD more quickly instead of being sent home from ERs.
