Monarch Ultra 10km

Starting and ending in beautiful Millennium Park in downtown Peterborough, this out and back course takes runners along the Rotary Trail in East City beside the scenic Otonabee River. The 10km race is relatively flat and fast!

Water station located at the 5K turnaround - this is a cup free event. Please bring your own vessel that our volunteers can fill for you.

The 10km Race will be chip timed. Monarch-themed costumes encouraged - Prizes for best costumes!

FINE PRINT:

* No refunds. If event is cancelled for any reason, all participants will be transferred to the 2026 Monarch Race.

* Our insurance provider strictly prohibits strollers and animals on the race course.

* Headphones - as this is a trail, we request that if you plan to use headphones, please wear one headphone only (preferably right side) which will allow other runners to safely pass on the left.

Children under the age of 14 can sign up to participate in our 1 kilometre kids run. Each child will receive a participant medal and snack at the finish line. Only 50 spots available! Be sure to sign up in advance of race day in order to secure your child's spot.

The 1km Kids Fun Run will also start and end at Millennium Park.

CHIP TIMING

10KM runners will be provided with chip timing to record their elapsed time.

PRIZES

Top 3 finishers (male and female) in the 10KM race will be presented with prizes from local businesses after the race.

Monarch-themed costumes encouraged, prizes will be awarded for most unique in the 10KM & 1KM distances!

Prizes will also be given for most donations raised, so be sure to ask your family and friends to donate to your race!

CUP FREE EVENT

This is a CUP-FREE event, therefore you will need to bring your own handheld or bottle to fill at the Start Line and Water Station.

POST RACE

Refreshments will be available post run. Everyone is invited to our Monarch Butterfly Festival after the race. Please see the details on the event below.

The Monarch Festival is a vibrant and engaging annual celebration dedicated to raising awareness for monarch butterfly conservation. This lively event brings together a wonderful mix of live music, local crafts, face painting, and informative booths to educate and inspire attendees about the importance of preserving these majestic creatures. With guest speakers sharing their knowledge, delicious food to enjoy, and a sense of community spirit, the Monarch Festival offers a fun-filled experience for all ages. Join us in supporting this meaningful cause while celebrating nature’s beauty!

The event starts at 10:00am and goes on until 2:00pm at Millennium Park. We encourage you and your family to join us!
