My Story…
Sadly, in June of 2024 my mum was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, a very aggressive cancer of the gall bladder, and passed away only a few months later. Devastating, despite the fact my mum was 84, had a wonderful and full life, and our family made the most of every moment we had left together. Not the end anyone was hoping for.
Shockingly, only a couple months after my mum's diagnosis, I learned that my dear friend Chris' husband, Terry, was diagnosed with the same cancer. Gut-wrenching news.
Dr. (Terry) May's Vile Bile Run/Walk is a tongue in cheek initiative they conceived and executed with good friends, to rally and empower the community, to get active and do something positive despite the steep challenge ahead. Very in keeping with who Chris and Terry are.
On June 1st, I will be wogging (walk/Jog mash-up) in memory of my mum, in solidarity with Terry, Chris and the Ferguson/May family, and in my own small way trying to raise money for research to help kick cholangiocarcinoma in the butt!
Any donations very much appreciated, and will go to the Canadian Cholangiocarcinoma Collaborative (C3) via the Canadian Cancer Society. Your donations will be used to support a number of C3 research programs and help patients access Molecular Testing through the C3.
Many thanks!
