My Story…
Curtis, my husband, had gallstones in March 2024 and his gallbladder was removed in April. He kept having blockages in his bile duct which was thought to be sludge and build up of bile. It was becoming suspicious and odd, so after several ERCPs, a biopsy was done in September.
Curtis was diagnosed with bile duct cancer. To complicate things, we also found out he has a liver disease called PSC. Sadly no cure for PSC, and bile duct cancer is rare and aggressive.
He had a whipple procedure (pretty major life changing surgery which affects diet and digestion for life) in December and it was successful.
When chemotherapy and immunotherapy were planned to begin in February 2025, tests showed spread to his liver, abdomen and lymph nodes so it's considered stage 4. Chemo will be for 6 months and immunotherapy for a total of 1.5 years. Both are administered at PRHC. He's had 3 cycles of chemo and immuno, and is tolerating it well.
The funds raised will help C3 perform research and testing to find treatment for this rare cancer.
