1. Organiser & Eligibility
1. Event & Organiser
1.1. This Taiping Half Marathon (“Event”) is organised by Taiping Road Runners (“the Organiser”). The Event is open to all residents of Malaysia, both Malaysians and non-Malaysians, with no minimum age limit for Family Fun Run (5KM & 3KM) categories. However, please refer to the specific conditions for these categories.
1.2. All minors must obtain written approval from their legal guardian to participate in this Event. The Organiser shall not be held liable for any issues or liability arising from a minor’s participation without proper guardian consent.
2. Event Date & Postponement
2.1. This Event will be held on 27th July 2025 (“Date”). The Organiser reserves the right to postpone, alter, or cancel the Event at its sole discretion and shall bear no liability for any loss or inconvenience caused.
2.2. For more details on the Event, please visit www.taipinghalfmarathon.com (“Official Website”). Participants must regularly check the Official Website for updates or changes.
3. Categories
3.1. Category N and Category P (Primary School category) At least one team member in each category must be over 18 years old and shall be fully responsible for the safety and conduct of all team members.
3.2. The Organiser reserves the right to limit, refuse, or reassign any entry without providing a reason and shall not be liable for any related claims.
4. Personal Data & Consent
4.1. By signing up and providing personal information to participate in the Event, each individual (“Participant”) expressly consents to the Organiser’s use of this data for legitimate communication and administrative purposes, including direct mail, email, SMS, or phone calls.
4.2. The Organiser may engage third-party service providers to process personal data, with whom it will enter into binding agreements to ensure data confidentiality and limit use strictly to Event-related activities.
4.3. Participants have the right, at any time, to:
4.3.1. Withdraw consent for the use of personal data;
4.3.2. Request corrections or updates to personal data;
4.3.3. Submit general queries about personal data handling;

2. Liability & Responsibility
5. Data Security
5.1. The Organiser will take reasonable precautions to secure Participants’ personal data and requires its third-party processors to do the same.
5.2. All personal data will be destroyed or permanently deleted when no longer needed for its original purpose.
5.3. If compelled by law or a competent authority, the Organiser may disclose personal data and shall not be liable for such disclosures.
6. Fitness & Medical Conditions
6.1. All Participants must ensure they are in suitable physical condition for the Event. The Organiser shall not be liable for any harm, injury, or loss arising from undisclosed medical conditions.
6.2. It is the Participant’s responsibility to undergo any necessary medical screenings before registering or participating.
7. No Liability for Loss or Injury
7.1. While the Organiser will take reasonable measures for Participants’ safety, all Participants enter at their own risk. The Organiser, its employees, sponsors, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any injury, death, or property damage—howsoever arising before, during, or after the Event.
7.2. The Organiser does not assume responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.
8. Indemnification
8.1. By participating, each Participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Organiser, its directors, employees, agents, and sponsors against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or connected with their participation in the Event, including but not limited to any breach of these Rules & Regulations or the Participant’s negligent or wrongful acts.
9. Modification of Rules
9.1. The Organiser reserves the right to amend or substitute any of these Rules & Regulations at any time, without prior notice. If there is any ambiguity, the Organiser’s interpretation shall be final and binding.
9.2. Any update or change will be published on the Official Website. Participants must regularly check for the most up-to-date information.
3. Registration & Confirmation
10. Registration Confirmation
10.1. By submitting the online registration form, Participants confirm acceptance of all Rules & Regulations.
10.2. A confirmation slip (“Confirmation Slip”) will be sent to the registered email. If a Participant does not receive or cannot download the Confirmation Slip, it is their responsibility to contact the Organiser.
11. Accuracy of Information
11.1. Participants must provide true, accurate, current, and complete personal information.
11.2. The Organiser may suspend or terminate a registration if any information is found to be untrue, inaccurate, or incomplete.
12. No Refunds
12.1. No refunds will be issued once registration is processed, regardless of non-participation or disqualification for any reason.
12.2. The Organiser shall not entertain disputes arising from incomplete or inaccurate registration details.
13. Transfer of Entries
13.1. Event entries are non-transferable to another individual or category once confirmed. Any attempt to do so may result in disqualification without refund.
4. Event Changes & Cancellations
14. Event Alteration
14.1. The Organiser reserves the right to change the Date, venue, race routes (“Routes”), or Event format at any time without prior notice. Such decisions are final and not subject to claims of any kind.
14.2. Any changes will be communicated via the Official Website. Participants are responsible for monitoring updates.
15. Force Majeure
15.1. If the Event must be canceled due to circumstances beyond the Organiser’s control (e.g., extreme weather, acts of God, terrorism), no refunds will be provided, and the Organiser shall not be liable for any additional costs, damages, or losses.
16. Right to Postpone or Cancel
16.1. Should the Organiser postpone or cancel the Event for any reason, no compensation (financial or otherwise) will be provided to Participants.
16.2. The Organiser shall not be responsible for any consequent loss, damage, or inconvenience caused.
17. Refusal of Entry & Additional Categories
17.1. The Organiser reserves the right to refuse any entry or add/cancel any category at its discretion, with no obligation to provide a reason.
17.2. The Organiser’s decisions in such matters are final and not open to appeal.
5. Race-Day Requirements
18. Road Closure
18.1. Where applicable, road closures will be lifted after 1 hour from the start of the 5KM run and 1 hour from the start of the 3KM run (“Closure Time”).
18.2. Participants still on the Route after the Closure Time proceed at their own risk, and the Organiser, its partners, and officials shall bear no liability.
19. Compliance with Instructions
19.1. Participants must strictly follow the designated Route and abide by directions from event officials, security personnel, and law enforcement.
19.2. Failure to comply may result in immediate disqualification, and the Organiser shall not be liable for any resulting claims or damages.
20. Bib & Identification
20.1. Participants must wear the assigned bib number on the front of their shirt at all times during the race.
20.2. The Organiser will not recognize any claims for Participants running without an official bib.
21. Prohibited Items
21.1. Pets, bicycles, skates, prams, pushcarts, or any wheeled items (other than official vehicles) are not permitted on the race course.
21.2. The Organiser shall not be liable for injuries or damages caused by unauthorized items.
22. Removal from Event
22.1. Any Participant deemed physically or medically unfit by event officials must retire immediately from the Event.
22.2. The Organiser reserves the right to remove any Participant for safety, health, or operational concerns, without refund or liability.
23. Use of Images
23.1. The Organiser reserves the right to use any photographs, video, or media of Participants for legitimate marketing, promotion, or other commercial purposes without compensation or prior notice.
23.2. Participants waive the right to inspect or approve any final media usage.
24. Start Time & Disqualification
24.1. Any Participant who starts before the official Flag-Off Time or more than 20 minutes after it may be disqualified for safety reasons.
24.2. The Organiser’s decision on disqualification shall be final and not subject to appeal.
6. Prizes & Timing
25. Winners & Gun Time
25.1. Winners are determined by “Gun Time,” measured from the official Flag-Off to the Participant’s finish.
25.2. A single-use timing tag may be provided. Improper use of the tag or failure to use the tag may lead to disqualification.
26. One Prize Rule
26.1. Each Participant is eligible to win only one prize per Event. No appeals will be entertained for multiple prizes.
27. Disputes & Appeals (Prize Winners)
27.1. Appeals must be raised within 30 minutes of result posting or immediately after prize presentation, whichever is earlier.
27.2. Any appeal submitted after this period will not be entertained.
28. Disputes & Appeals (Other Participants)
28.1. All other Participants have 7 days from the Event Date to submit written appeals.
28.2. The Organiser reserves the right to reject late appeals and will not be liable for any external disputes or claims.
29. Finisher’s Medals & Certificates
29.1. 5KM Category:
o Finishers receive a medal upon presenting their bib at the collection counter.
o Medals must be collected on the Event day; no post-event requests will be entertained.
o Finishers also receive an electronic certificate (available for 90 days after it’s published).
29.2. 3KM Category:
o Finishers receive a physical certificate on the Event day.
o No certificate is provided for incomplete runs.
30. Prize Substitution
30.1. The Organiser may substitute any prize at its discretion with another of similar value, without prior notice.
30.2. Prizes are provided “as is”, are non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash.
7. Waiver & Indemnity
31. Disclaimer & Assumption of Risk
31.1. By agreeing to these terms and/or registering electronically, each Participant acknowledges the inherent risks of participating in the Event and agrees to assume all such risks, including potential injury, death, or property damage.
32. Release of Liability
32.1. In consideration of the Organiser accepting the Participant’s registration, the Participant fully and forever releases and discharges the Organiser, its affiliates, and sponsors from any and all claims arising from participation in the Event, including claims arising from negligence.
33. Indemnification
33.1. The Participant agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold the Organiser harmless against any claims or liability to third parties arising from the Participant’s own acts, omissions, or negligence.
34. Non-Refundable Fees & Event Adjustments
34.1. The Participant understands and accepts that no fees will be refunded if the Event is cancelled, modified, or postponed for any reason.
34.2. The Organiser’s decisions on alterations or cancellations are final, and the Participant agrees not to pursue any claims related to such decisions.
35. Binding Agreement
35.1. By participating, the Participant confirms understanding and acceptance of all Rules & Regulations and consents to abide by them. Breach of these terms may result in immediate disqualification without refund.
