Countdown to event
Break Free 5/10k Run, Walk, & Roll
Lace up your shoes, and get ready for this fun, family friendly community event.
June 21, 2025
Join us at beautiful Cardiff Park for a 5k run/walk/roll and a 10k run and help us add colour to the lives of those impacted by domestic violence.
Funds raised through this event will support vulnerable community members who are facing domestic violence. JMMF offers programming through Outreach, community education, and safe housing at Jessie's House and Eileen's Place.
Jessie's House is a 35 bed all-gender emergency shelter for individuals and families who are fleeing domestic violence. Jessie's House is also the home of our 24 hour crisis line and Child Care Program.
Funds raised at this event will help us provide essential programming needs at Jessie's House and Eileen's Place while operating with a $1.6 million dollar government funding shortage.
We need the help from the community more than ever!
Our mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence through the actions of advocacy, awareness, community engagement, education, and safe housing.
Our vision is a future free of domestic violence for all individuals.

Event Program
LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!
You can expect to enjoy a fun morning with The Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation alongside family and friends. The day will start with you getting your race kit at registration, enjoying family friendly activities in race village, such as our optional colour blast station, dancin to DJ Beats and powering up through a fun warm up before you are off to the races! Listen for your race call and run, walk, dance or roll your way through the course making memories along the way all the while knowing that by participating you are helping those impacted by domestic violence!
This year we are moving the colour blast station to race village and away from the race course. This is out of respect for those colourful enough that don't want to have colour powder tossed at them. Shout out to the dogs and babies that may not appreciate this element like our fun loving youth do! You can expect to get a little spray of water along the way with some of our race partners.
DOG FRIENDLY
Bring your pooch along - we are dog friendly as long as you can say the same for your canine pal and practice basic dog etiquette. There will be loud noises, lots of children and water sprays that may startle your pup-please plan for this ahead of time.
BASIC DOG ETIQUETTE
- Dogs should remain on leash at all times
- Bring pet food and water
- Bring doggie bags and clean up after your pet
- Bring conditioned and socialized dogs only
