The 2025 Stages
Use Papertown Express trail to climb to the top of the mountain
Imperial Stage
Elevation: Highest - 3,428ft | Lowest - 2,846ft | Elevation Loss - 582ft
For those seeking a rugged, raw mountain bike experience, Imperial delivers. Starting at the summit of Chestnut Mountain, this advanced, single-direction trail is a true tribute to classic Appalachian riding. Featuring hand-built off-camber sections, rake-and-ride segments, and raw technical terrain, Imperial rewards skilled riders with a mix of machine-built catch berms, locust log obstacles, and natural rock features. The trail winds down steep, challenging sections before merging with Lady Bird near the bottom. The stage will end before the full trail does, so be prepared to sprint to the finish before the official merge!
Lady Bird Stage
Elevation: Highest - 3,242ft | Lowest - 2,655ft | Elevation Loss - 587ft
Get ready for a high-speed descent on Lady Bird, a thrilling single-track trail designed for flow, fun, and fast riding. This trail is packed with berms, rollers, and plenty of opportunities to pump and jump your way down Chestnut Mountain. Rated as intermediate, Lady Bird offers surprises for advanced riders, with hidden "easter eggs" tucked into the terrain for those looking to push their limits. Riders will weave in and out of the deep contours of the mountain, experiencing the rhythm of this dynamic trail. The stage will conclude before the actual end of Lady Bird, so keep an eye out for the finish markers!
Wildcat Stage
Elevation: Highest - 3,099ft | Lowest - 2,795ft | Elevation Loss - 304ft
The Wildcat Stage serves up a mix of technical features and flow, making it a well-rounded challenge for riders. This intermediate trail throws in a little bit of everything—fast singletrack, tabletop jumps, rock gardens, rollers, handbuilt sections, and sweeping berms. The trail winds through lush ferns and rocky sections, with a few boardwalks adding variety. It starts mid-mountain, eliminating the need for a full top-to-bottom climb. Toward the end, Wildcat merges with Lady Bird, rewarding riders with a fast, thrilling finale. The stage will finish before the trail’s official end, so stay focused and watch for the finish line.
Sunburst Stage
Elevation: Highest - 3,110ft | Lowest - 2,861ft | Elevation Loss - 249ft
Sunburst is a smooth and flowy beginner-friendly stage that’s all about speed and fun. Beginning off the Papertown Express (Upper) climb, this stage takes riders through a berm-filled adventure as they descend Chestnut Mountain. While it’s rated as a beginner trail, experienced riders can use it to pick up speed and refine their technique on the turns. Sunburst rejoins Papertown Express to complete a loop, but this stage will finish before reaching the full end of the trail, so stay sharp as you approach the finish!
