Heart Beats Children's Society

For over 35 years, Heart Beats Children’s Society has provided financial support, emotional care, and community programs for families facing CHD. One of our core programs, the Helping Hands Fund, offers urgent support such as gas cards, grocery cards, and accommodation help when families need it most.

During these times of uncertainty, with rising costs of living, ongoing changes in our healthcare system, more and more families are turning to Heart Beats for support—whether they’re receiving care at Alberta Children’s Hospital, the Providence Cardiology Clinic, or travelling out of province for procedures not available in Calgary.

Funds raised through the Fun Run also support programs that build resilience, community, and connection for kids with CHD and their families, including:

• CHAMPS Camp (ages 7-14) – A wellness day camp promoting fitness, confidence, and fun for youth with CHD.
  
  

• Offbeats (ages 12-17) – Inclusive experiences for youth with heart disease and their siblings, like drum circles, heart healthy cooking classes and laser tag.

Looking ahead, we  would like to expand programming for our youngest heart heroes (ages 0–6) to foster early connections and provide families with support from diagnosis through the transition to adult care.
