My Story…
I first experienced severe pain at 12 years old—pain so unbearable that I relied on pain medication just to get through the day. It got to the point where it was so common, no one questioned why I was in so much agony every single month. For years, I felt dismissed and misunderstood. The stigma around menstruation made it easy for doctors to brush off my symptoms. Endometriosis is one of the top 20 most painful conditions, yet I was made to feel like my suffering was “normal.” I ended up in the ER every month before a doctor finally referred me to a gynecologist. After going through the long diagnostic process, my doctor suspected I had endometriosis. A laparoscopic surgery confirmed that I had Stage 3 endometriosis.
