Honoring "Bossy Boy" - You may have noticed that handsome fella in the 2025 Tracy PAL Donut Dash finisher medal above. Well, that yellow lab is no other than Tracy Police K9 "Boss" aka "Bossy Boy". Recently, Bossy Boy, who served the Tracy PD from 2014-2018 with partner Lt Hicks, recently passed away. For those of you who did not have the pleasure of knowing him, K9 Boss was a yellow lab (although we suspect there was some Vizsla in his bloodline), and helped to launch SIU's interdiction program. K9 Boss' nose for probable cause was directly responsible for nearly 5 million in cash seizures related to illicit drugs, and over 1100 pounds of illegal marijuana and other drugs. After finishing his tour in SIU, K9 Boss enjoyed retirement and quickly took to his new full-time role of watching over the Hicks kids. Tracy Police Activities League is proud to honor his service to the community with a lifetime of connection as mascot for the Tracy PAL Donut Dash. RIP Bossy Boy.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Your time is needed. Stay tuned for links and information regarding volunteer opportunities before and during the race.

Tank Town Donut Eating Competition
Hosted by Local Culinary Favorite, Chef Jay of Jay’s Gourmet
This isn’t your average food challenge, it’s part obstacle course, part flavor test, part donut-fueled chaos. You’ll run, climb, crawl, and eat your way through Tracy’s newest tradition: The Donut Trials.
Think you can out-eat local leaders? Out-run your neighbor? Compete for the Top Dog Award and prove you’ve got what it takes!
5K Medley Relays
Presented in Honor of Narcotics K9 Boss, AKA “Bossy Boy”
Winner Takes the Belt and Bragging Rights for a Year.
In memory of one of Tracy PD’s most iconic K9s, Bossy Boy, this high-energy, team-based competition brings together strength, speed, and pride for one epic showdown. The Bossy Boy Medley Relay is an 8-leg team relay, and it’s not for the faint of heart.
Two Competitive Divisions
Public Safety Division
Police, Fire, EMS, and Corrections agencies from across the region will compete in a relay designed to push grit, coordination, and camaraderie.
8 legs of varying distances
Designed for strategy, pacing, and pride
Department gear or agency colors encouraged
Relay transitions take place near the finish zone for maximum crowd energy
Division 1: Public Safety Showdown
Police. Fire. EMS. Corrections.
This relay will pit area agencies against one another in a 6-leg medley relay designed to test speed, teamwork, and pride.
Each leg varies in distance to highlight strategy as much as strength.
Which agency will earn the belt and which will walk away vowing revenge next year?
It’s more than a race—it’s a rivalry.
Division 2: High School Elite
The valley’s fastest young athletes go head-to-head in a high school-only medley, representing their schools and running for pride, and the Bossy Boy legacy.
Schools may field co-ed or all-gender teams
Each leg ranges from 200m to 800m to emphasize versatility
Expect blistering times and fierce competition
This is where future champions make their mark.
