1st Annual Team Kopacz 5K Run/Walk
Knock Out the Miles for Parkinson's Disease
Sun, September 21, 2025 - 8:30 AM
Team Kopacz is a 501(c)3 foundation supporting Parkinson’s Disease(PD) research. After 7 years of hosting a successful golf event and raising over $250,000 for Parkinson’s research we are excited to be pivoting to a 5K Run/Walk. We are focusing on the importance of exercise for those living with PD. Exercise is a significant part of Jason’s symptom management since he was diagnosed at the age of 36 with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease. Exercise is the only treatment currently thought to slow the progression of PD. This year Team Kopacz is fundraising to support the U of MN SPARX3 trial. This trial is studying different levels of exercise intensity and how these affect PD symptoms and progression. Come join us in knocking out the miles to support PD research. There will be something for everyone with options for a 5K Run/Walk, a 1 mile stroll and a Kid's Dash

Course Description:
The start/finish line will be close to the Snail Lake Upper Pavillion. From the starting line you will take a quick loop around snail lake park and beach. After running past the lower Pavilion you will pass through a short tunnel that transitions you into a trail run course which is 100% paved with asphalt. There are a few spots that could be trip hazards if you’re not paying close attention. At the 2.2 mile mark you will run on the sidewalk on Snail Lake Road and Snail lake blvd until you reach the tunnel (2.8 miles). You will pass through the same short tunnel and take a left to finish uphill to same finish line. This is an open course. There may be other walkers, runners or cyclists on the asphalt trail with you, please be courteous to them and do not spread out wide so that others cannot get by you. To assure the safety of all participants, no pets are allowed on the course. Course will be accurately measured but not certified for this year.
The 1 mile stroll and ½ mile kids run will be an out and back from the same start/finish line.
Unfortunately, no pets will be permitted on course.
