Please join us on Sunday, August 17th, 2025, as we host a 5k run/walk in memory of Chris.
We hope to spread awareness in honour of Chris’ fight and for every other individual struggling with mental health and addiction. All net proceeds will be directed to St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton's Youth Wellness Centre.

PLEASE NOTE - If you're signing up for this participation type, you may not receive your event t-shirt until after August 18th. We will aim to get it in the mail as soon as we can. Join us in tribute to Chris by participating in our run! Receive a shirt delivered to your door, and even if you can't physically be with us, your spirit will run alongside. About Chris
Chris Owens was a runner from the time he knew how to walk. Whether he was travelling across the globe from the Australian beaches to the Rocky Mountains, or in his hometown of Waterdown, Ontario, Chris always found time for a run. Through every phase of his life no matter how challenging, dark, or painful, he would pick himself up, get outside and run as far as he possibly could. Living in constant uncertainty, this was his consistent therapy that never wavered.
On August 20th, 2021 at the age of 26 years old, Chris lost his battle with mental health and addiction. The commitment to his fight, his vulnerability with others and the obstacles he overcame in coming out about his sexuality has left a lasting impact on our community. He will forever be remembered as the most passionate, energetic, loving human being that anyone has ever known, stranger or family. His humour was unmatched, and his presence was undeniable. With 300 people attending his funeral including individuals from across the world, Chris truly touched the life of everyone he met.
