2025 RUN OFF-THE-GRID
Are you ready to break away from the Grid?
Join us for one of Northern Ontario's most rugged, rewarding, and remote trail races - right in the heart of peak autumn colours! With no roads and no pavement, this course is 100% trail and completely off-the-grid. It's just you, your footsteps and the quiet of the wilderness.
The race features a 12.5 km loop that winds through diverse terrain — including single track sections, old forest logging roads, rolling hills, steep climbs, rocky technical sections, creek crossings, our famous mud bog and gravel pit with a sandy dune descent. Each loop is run in the opposite direction to keep the challenge fresh and dynamic!
What truly sets Run Off-the-Grid apart is its incredible community atmosphere. From the cheers of lapping runners on the trails to the post-race celebration at the finish line, this event has become a favourite in the trail running community — not just for the course, but for the camaraderie, connection, and shared love of the outdoors.
A hike option is also available for the 12.5K and 25K distances — perfect for those who want to soak in the journey without the race clock.
What does the Run Off-the-Grid Support?
- Local food bank – we feel it is important to give back to our local community and $5 from each registration is donated to our local Mattawa Food Bank.
- Soles4Souls – we have partnered with Bioped Footcare (North Bay) to collect used shoes for Soles4Souls, which is an organization that turns unwanted shoes into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty. A large collection bin will be available on site at the central grounds. We want to see this bin overflowing with footwear.
- Nature’s Harmony Ecolodge – Remaining proceeds from this event are reinvested into Nature’s Harmony Ecolodge to further our vision of fostering meaningful connection — to self, to others, and to the natural world. Your participation helps support sustainable off-grid living, community-building initiatives, and the continued development of our unique programs, experiences, and trails.
Enjoy a Hearty Post-Race Meal!
After pushing your limits on the trail, refuel with a warm, wholesome meal prepared by gd2go catering. You'll have a choice between our signature harvest chicken stew or a flavourful curried lentil soup, served with fresh buns, pasta salad, and a leafy green salad. Vegan and gluten-free options are available.
We continue to offer this post-race meal because ROTG is more than a race — it’s a gathering. As a remote destination, most of our participants travel from out of town, and we love seeing everyone stick around to share stories, cheer each other on, and soak in the community vibe over a good meal.
In keeping with our sustainability values, we aim to minimize waste and reduce ROTG’s environmental footprint. Please bring your own dishes and cutlery — no disposable options will be provided.
Additional meal tickets can be purchased during registration for family members and supporters who want to join in the celebration.
