My Story…
I ran the local Hallora Marathon in December this year because I deeply believe that a healthy body and mind are essential not just for individual families, but for building strong, united communities. Running is a simple yet powerful way to train both physically and mentally. It brings people together, breaks down barriers, and strengthens our shared spirit. As Nobel Laureate Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet, a Victorian who made significant contributions to immunology, once emphasized, “The health of the individual is inseparable from the health of the community.” This belief resonates deeply with me—when we care for ourselves, we are also caring for those around us. Another great Australian Nobel Prize winner, Elizabeth Blackburn, born in Tasmania but educated in Melbourne, said, “What matters in life is not what we own, but what we contribute.” I see running not just as personal exercise, but as a contribution to a culture of resilience, unity, and well-being. A healthy community
