KRC Goats' Run 50th Anniversary Boat Pickup

Join the Kelowna Running Club (KRC) in celebrating a remarkable milestone—the 50th Annual Goats’ Run! This iconic trail run, rooted in the scenic beauty of Okanagan Mountain Park, has been a cherished tradition since its inception.

This year it is a special celebration of the club and its history so we are bringing back a classic KRC tradition- a boat shuttle service to pickup runners at the end of the route to bring them back to the post-run social gathering!

Boat Shuttle Service: Runners can register on this page for a boat pickup from Indian Rock Beach Access or from Commando Bay, providing a unique return journey to Bertram Creek Park for the post-run festivities.

Event Details:

• Date: Saturday 21st June 2025

• Start Location: 6850 Lakeshore Rd. (approximately 3.5 km past Rimrock Rd.)

• Pickup Time: Indian Rock Beach Access: 8:00am, Commando Bay: 8:30am

• Distance: To Indian Rock Beach Access: 26 km; To Commando Bay: 13km

• Cost: $75 + RaceRoster fees. We will be chartering a boat and captain for this trip and this cost will be split among the participants. Note that the price is the same regardless of pickup point.

• Route Highlights: Challenging rocky uphills, lush green areas, a scenic canyon, and open grasslands with stunning views of Okanagan Lake.

• Post-Run Gathering: Our regular potluck breakfast takes place at Bertram Creek Park between 9 and 11am. We are aiming for those on the boat to be dropped off at the park between 9 and 9:30am.

Important Info:

This registration page is only for runners who wish to take the boat. If you are running our regular out and back route, there is no need to register and no cost to participate.

You must be a member of the KRC to register for a place on the boat. Not a member? Sign up now with memberships starting at $20.

YOU are responsible to arrive at the pickup point on time! Know your pace and make sure you leave with plenty of time to reach the pickup point. The boat will be leaving at the posted times and it is a long walk into Penticton to catch the bus if you are late...

Please don't run alone. Find a group and stick with them. You are very welcome to join us and run to Indian Rock Beach Access together, details of this will follow but an estimated start time is 5am.

There is a short section of our route that is off trail. We will endeavour to flag this section and will provide a GPX track that can be downloaded to mobile devices and most running watches. You are welcome to take this on by yourself, but we would recommend running with the main group if you are unsure.

Note: Those who register for the 26km route will receive an email prior to the event with more detailed instructions and information about the off trail section.

The Boat

We have rented a Bennington Pontoon boat that can accommodate up to 11 people. Our captain will meet us at the locations and times posted above and take us to Bertram Creek Park for the social gathering. The KRC will make sure that the boat is well stocked with Powerade and other refreshments! If you require anything else, please let us know and we'll co-ordinate with the boat captain to make sure it makes it on board.

Cancellation Policy

There is a chance that the boat will be cancelled in the event of bad weather. If this is the case you will be informed the day before (20th June) and your registration fee will be fully refunded (minus fees). If you wish to cancel your registration, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can find someone to replace you. If we are unable to find a replacement, then you will forfeit your registration fee.
