Volunteer details
Water/Aid Station
Hand out drinks to participants as they pass by the station. If anyone needs assistance, notify the Race Director.
Check-In Crew
You will greet walkers/runners warmly as they arrive, check their name off the participant list and verify if they are registered as either a paid participant OR as a fundraiser and if they were successful in raising a minimum of $100 for the free admittance to the run. Provide the participant if they are registered or raised $100 and have included the pledge forms and money their free t-shirt for the event and let them know upon the completion of the walk/run they will be rewarded with the 5KM medal! Thank them for taking part in our event.
Route Marshals
You'll be assigned to a key corner or intersection. You will be provided with a Running For Shelter sign and continue to direct and encourage walkers and let them know about their current distance and if applicable how far until the next water station or finish line!
Route Set-Up & Tear-Down Crew
Crews are responsible for setting up the route as needed (signs, rest stops etc) as well as the start/finish location. The same crew often helps out on the route during the event and returns to tear down the route. Please indicate your availability.
Welcome Greeters
You will welcome and guide people just arriving towards either the participant check-in table as well as let individuals know where the washroom facilities are located.
Welcome- Photo/Video Crew
You capture all of the fun of Running For Shelter on photo or video! You are responsible to capture as much fund of the day at the location and taking pictures of participants, teams and volunteers at both the start and finish location and along the route. Pictures are asked to be high quality so they can be added to our website and social media pages. All photo/video crew members will receive a USB provided to be able to load the images/videos to the drive.
