Get ready for the second annual Cavendish Race Weekend!
Taking place on Sunday June 15th, this year’s 5KM and 10KM race routes offer a brand-new experience through the stunning landscapes of Cavendish Beach and the Dunelands Trail. Starting at the Cavendish Visitor Information Centre, both courses guide runners along coastal paths, wooded trails, and the iconic floating boardwalk over the Lake of Shining Waters. Whether you're tackling the shorter loop or taking on the full 10KM, expect breathtaking views, gentle inclines, and a course that showcases the very best of Prince Edward Island’s National Park.

5KM Run or Walk Closed
Start: The race begins at the Cavendish Visitor Information Centre (VIC). Route: Runners head out from the VIC towards Oceanview Lookout, where they take a left turn onto the Dunelands Trail. The Dunelands Trail leads towards Cavendish Main Beach Complex, offering breathtaking views of the Cavendish Beach dunes. A highlight of this section is the floating boardwalk, which crosses The Lake of Shining Waters providing a unique experience as runners pass over the tranquil water with views of the surrounding marshland. After crossing the boardwalk, the route continues toward Cavendish Campground. Just before reaching the campground, runners take a left turn across Grahams Lane, which continues onto Clarks Lane, heading towards Cavendish Grove. Exiting Cavendish Grove, the course merges onto Route 6, where runners take a Left turn for the final stretch back to the VIC finish line. Start: The race begins at the Cavendish Visitor Information Centre (VIC), following the same initial path as the 5KM loop. Route: Runners depart the VIC and head towards Oceanview Lookout, where they take a left turn onto the Dunelands Trail. The Dunelands Trail leads towards Cavendish Main Beach Complex, passing over the floating boardwalk that crosses The Lake of Shinning Waters, offering stunning views of the surrounding dunes and marshland. The route continues towards Cavendish Campground, where the 10KM race splits from the 6KM course. Instead of turning onto Grahams Lane, runners continue straight into the Homestead Trail, which begins as a gravel path winding through wooded terrain, running parallel to the Atlantic Ocean. Runners will cross a 40-foot bridge that spans an inlet of water flowing from the Atlantic, with picturesque red sand beaches visible on the Right.
