Discovery House

Discovery House is a social profit organization committed to ending the traumatic cycle of domestic violence for women and children. Each year, we provide supportive transitional housing to approximately 600 women and their children who are fleeing domestic violence so that they can heal from their trauma, rebuild their lives, achieve self-sufficiency, and break the cycle of domestic violence. At any given time, we house 19 families in our second-stage housing facility and up to 100 in the Calgary community. We offer critical services such as relocation, transportation, home amenities, food, clothes and basic needs. Our clients experience a continuum of care that includes Intensive Case Management, a child/youth case manager, mental health clinician and housing liaison. Additionally, our extensive portfolio of trauma-informed programs address wellness, mental health, brain development, financial literacy and life skills so that women and their children can build resiliency. Discovery House is about hope. From the moment women and children walk through the yellow door, their lives change.

Heart Home Network

Domestic violence impacts people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life—but women and children are disproportionately affected. Survivors often arrive at our doors with nothing, having left everything behind in search of safety. At Heart Home Network, they find more than a roof over their heads—they find trauma-informed support, skill building opportunities, and a way forward. We provide transitional housing, counselling services, as well as child and youth programs tailored to the unique situation and needs of each family. With Royal LePage’s support, each step taken at the Night Light Walk powers their journey from fear to freedom, lighting the path to healing and hope—one step at a time.
